Shape of grow pots

I am using 5 gallon Root Trapper II fabric pots for my autoflower organic grow I'm about to start.
They are 10" wide x 15" tall.

I was recently informed that cannabis prefers a short wide pot?
Is there cause for concern?

i don't think so, i've grown in coffee cans, buckets, tubs, square, round , oval. some are better than others, i do like the cloth pots, and you don't want them to be like 6 inches across and 24 inches deep, but you ought to be fine with those

Up to a point I'm thinking what do the roots care? They'll find there way where they need to go right?

if left to their own they'll grow into a kind of upside down pointed mushroom shape, but they rarely have enough room in even the largest pots to do that, so it doesn't really matter as long as they aren't crowded or forced into a ridiculously odd shaped container

I read somewhere once that square pots don't get the same spiral of roots at the bottom edge like round ones and produce a more natural root footprint. Never tried them but...

that's true enough, but if you use a large enough pot, that shouldn't be an issue, many more problems are caused by size than shape.
that's also why i like the cloth pots, when the roots hit the side wall, the tip grows through, hits the air, and dies. when that happens, the root starts to grow radially, put out all those fine hair roots all along its length, that's when they become really effective at feeding your plant.
