just because you winterize something or de-wax it doesn't mean it wont wax up.
and I like wax better i think it taste better and easier to handle, the only reason I make shatter is because that is what the public wants, and dont get me wrong there is a fine line because at a certain point you are boiling off THC, like the crumble.

shatter is a mis-conception, people think that since it is glass clear it must be clean, this is a fallacy.

Is that your assumption or you yourself watched autoupwaxing of winterized extract?
yes I have seen it with my own eyes, and the filter I use for winterizing is a #5 buchner funnel which is 2-5 microns and I do all of the winterizing process in my deep freezer that is filled with dry ice.

there are a hand full of people on this site that have waxed up winterized extracts

I'm not an organic chemist so I really don't know whats happening chemically at that level, but I've never had any winterized shatter butter up on me (I'm def. not saying it can't happen). It seems like that waxes get in the way of the THC-A molecules bonding, but again I'm not sure. I think that maybe people aren't fully winterizing it because the one time I didn't winterize all the way is the only time it did wax up. Surely removing the waxes must have some effect on the buttering.

I'm not sure that I understand correctly the terms, do you distinguish autobuddering from waxing up?

With bubbles or no bubbles?

ive got some shatter over a month old (winterized) and its still 98% the same as when it was made. I keep it in the fridge in air tight containers. I was keeping it in the freezer, but would get condensation when pulling it out and putting it back in. the fridge works great. its kept in the veggie drawer. I also have an adjustable humidity slider for that drawer. its on 0.

hard to make or cost wouldn't be my top concern. how dangerous/deadly is can be done by the untrained or misinformed person. buildings have been blown up, people have been maimed or killed when doing this indoors or when the person doesn't have a clue what their doing. but there a lot of people who have been running bho for years and all is well. cause they know what their doing and what precautions to take.

FWIW My winterized shatter did seem much more stable than the non winterized version.

I winterize at -25f for weeks then suck through a watman #1.

i only make winterized stuff and in my experience it changes a bit, but not nearly as much as non winterized oil. As demontrich said, i too have some winterized shatter from several months ago, and its still mostly the same as it ever was.
