I doubt any of those guys are to be found in this forum, so you should probably post any threats of violence on lineitup.org in the Canadian cokeheads forum.

in the spirit of harm reduction you should acquire a vacuum oven - if you plan to be making any more shatter, and sharing it with others. without one it will be very hard to guarantee the butane residue is at a safe level, plus with vacuum you can keep the purge temps and time reasonable. as a bonus the finished product might even have a lighter colour. also learn how to clean your butane. undistilled butane has all sorts of nasty shit in it. thirdly acquire weed from known sources as toxic sprays can accumulate in concentrates.

@herb-life....no one is trying to bust your balls, just trying to teach you the proper ways of the force! You ran 3 lbs of MJ once, some of us run that every week. Don't take it personal...very good peeps in this subforum, use it to your advantage.

there's also a thread on this forum with a lot of people there that have knowledge as well. i got some great tips there and i found a way to make it without heat. i use 190 proof and I think it works very well. easy too

Mine purges for like a day or two, then I winterize it, and purge several days @ full vac on my seedling mat....

You got nasties in your oil bro, get some Everclear (real 190 proof, not that 151 proof garbage) and some filters.... clean it, purge it, and show us the 'after' pics... your body will thank you when you see what filters out....

Once you have tried the vac chamber full purge, and the winterizing..... both are steps you will never un-make, and will preach unto others.... the benefits (and health and safety concerns) are WELL worth the time, and investment....

If your response to all the times you were asked about a vac purge is 'look at these pics I googled' I think a lot more reading and a lot fewer pictures is needed..... From my experience the older bud will make dark bho. To get nice white or Amber budder/shatter freshly harvested and dried plants are needed. think of the trichome heads. Clear, milky, Amber, extracting from pre mature, clear headed trichome, will get nice Peruvian flake budder, mmmmm.

Shatter is THC in an amorphous state, budder(wax,sugar, crumble) has THC precipitating out of that state and into one of a visible mixture of THC, terpenes, lipids/waxs/fats, and other cannabinoids. Its extremely similar to sugar and sugar glass.

PS: Shatter is shit. Pull snap, or terpier the better.

So the difference is the structure? With shatter being more or less crystalline?

I dont consider shatter crystalline, but an amorphous resin, just like sugar glass or pane of silicate based glass, shatter is literally a glass.

Think of it in the same way as making candy with sugar and how you can get different textures out of the same starting product. Shatter being a good example as it borrows from the very example I gave. Sometimes depends on heat, or air being whipped in when it comes to budder. Then you can get into stuff like winterizing to separate lipids and waxes. You can also play around with terps. Tons of cool info out there
