friend of mine insists that lining the floor of grow tent with mylar and other reflective lighting, bouncing light back up to underneath plant leaves. I am not a professional, but it seems to me that the natural light sources come from above and that the top of leaves are made to absorb light not the bottom. The bottom is not made to take in direct or reflected light. The use of strong LED lighting in the tent that has reflective walls seems to be enough.
Am i wrong in this thinking? And is this good or bad for the plant??

I'm admittedly no pro, but I actually agree. I was thinking about this for supplemental light to just put a few CFL's underneath so that the buds down bottom get a little more light. I don't see why it wouldn't be right. Even if the leaves themselves don't absorb that much if the bud sites got more light, they should (in theory) grow a little more. I would think it's plausible I just haven't done it myself. I wasn't thinking of doing the floor with mylar, but did consider putting some on top of the soil around the plant to ricochet light back up. Anyone more experienced try this?

Most tents have a reflective floor pan and many who build rooms line the floor with panda film - white up - BurlingtonBam's right - the lower budsites need as much light as possible. Hope this helps.

I may be mistaken but I am pretty sure plants can only take light in from the top of the leafs.
