Should I be worried about apartment growing?

PLEASE give me some insight, but level with me. Give it to me straight.

Again and again I've seen statements like "don't do it, it's way too risky," but what are the exact risks of apartment growing? I'm beyond paranoid having read this: www.cannabisculture.com/v2/articles/3441.html

I mean, wtf?!?! Do people growing 5 or so plants actually get busted by these means? How the f does one protect himself from helicopters with infrared radars?!

Will a 250 watt light (in addition to everything else needed) draw too much power for a single-bedroom apartment, causing it to be flagged? I'll be paying the electric bill directly through the power company each month. Will this be monitored?

The landlord must give me 24 hours' notice (more than enough time for me to dismantle my operation) before entry, but what about cops? How easy is it for them to obtain a search warrant in the U.S. (in Virginia, of all effing states)? Even if there's no smell from the outside, what prevents them from fabricating such, or any ruse for that matter? Couldn't they just ask the landlord (who would then presumably not need to notify me because of "emergency" circumstances) for entry, bypassing the requirement for a warrant? Can conspicuous power consumption warrant a warrant?

Anything else I should add to this list of worries? Any countermeasures for such?

The only reason the cops would use infrared on you is if your electric has a huge spike thats why im using cfl’s im in an apartment now so im only doing 2 plants in a tent in a closet. check to see what 250watts an hour shows google it. you should be fine im more worried about the smell i got to figure that one out any help out there

My bill is only 125 a month and I'm in the flowering stage, I don't think they notice or care cause I haven't been caught yet. Don't worry, the more you worry the more sketchy you'll be, just relax and don't be stupid.

Your paranoid a 250 watt light takes up 1/3 of the power as my holmes space heater and thats on low. Thing pulls 1500 watts on high and thats a space heater. I use two sometimes besides my lights and thats like three 1,000 watt HPS's at once. People use things that use more power than lights. New large screen TVs, large stereo systems, big gaming PC's, and on and on. I wouldn't sweat it unless your running like 5 or 6 1,000 watters. Your 250 watts is minuscule and puny and no need for concern. Grow some dank shit and be a proud man.

It really depends,... but in that situation that you most fear, what is the storyline that feels the best to think about.

If you cant afford to get busted, dont grow. It is that simple. If you are young, dumb with lots of "friends" you will get busted.

They don't even do that. Imagine how much money they would spend to do all that, all the time? If they ever did, they would do it in huge operations where people grow on acres/orchards/big ass buildings maybe.

Gas to fill the plane, people to pay, buying all the electrical equipment, yada yada bla bla they just say all the shit to sound professional and like CIA about the situation but that's just a tactic to scare you into not doing it.

Seems like it might have worked on some people, eh?

Smell is your biggest concern. Unless you give them reason to come there they won't. Be smart, do it legally according to your state. Unless you do something stupid like sell your medicine to strangers or tell the guy at the grocery store your growing you will be fine. I say again SMELL is your only real worry. Control that and your golden. Don't tell a soul. Police need a fair amount of solid evidence before they can just barge into your house. Good by the book cops that is. And stop being so worried/negative, surrounding yourself with that attitude/energy only helps bring it truly around.

I would agree smell is the biggest issue. I'm using a carbon right now, but my environment isn't sealed so I still catch wiffs of it every so often. Completely legal by state law, but there's still the feds. Mines a small op 6 plants but still, I'm going with a sealed area (tent) next grow for less smell. It's gonna cost more but the piece of mind should be worth the investment.

lol yes this is funny...i live where it is illegal, and rent an apartment right off a busy road. i flower 3 plants, well...3 that actually stink at a time, and have my porch widow open 24/7 with a blanket or so at night. i also have a big square fan blowing air from my living room to my room with the plant, and have another small fan blowing on my girls...i have an upstairs neighbor who has to walk 2-3 feet in front of my window on the porch everyday to go anywhere...that room smells, and half my living room smells...but the weirdest thing...ill go outside and shove my beak up to the screen window, AAAAANNNNNNDDDDD!!!!!! nothing. not a damn spec of odor. point is...it is really hard to accumulate a strong enough smell to cause a disturbance. forget about it mane!

dude alittle advice your living setup isnt close to safe for growing, you need to change location one thats not going to have people as close
as you have now. think of it this way if one thing in your setup fails and odor control is compermised your fucked! growing is a cool thing,
prison is less than cool.

I would just not use much electricity, that simple, use CFLs and the such. Should help
