Should I be worried? (first time grow)

I'm growing two Alaskan Ice plants I got as seeds from attitude seed bank. I started the seeds on 24 hour light the last week of June. I started flowering on July 21st. It has now been 5 weeks and 2 days of 12/12. The description on the website said flowering time is 9 weeks. One plant totally dominated the other and is now over 40 inches tall. the other smaller plant is about 25 inches tall. I'm only just now starting to see little white hairs growing at the joints of the big plant. My question is, should I be worried that I'm not really seeing buds forming yet, or do I need to just wait a little longer.

Are you making sure the plants are getting 12 hours of continuous uninterupted darkness? That is the key. If the plant's dark cycle is interupted even momentarily it affects the plant's ability to flower. LST the tall Mo Fo to bring it down to size with your other plant.

I can post more pictures and more information about the grow as well. Kind of a backdated grow journal if anyone is interested.

I have been leaving the closet door opened a crack for ventilation, but i have the lights off at night and there are no lights on in my room, just possibly light coming in from under the bedroom door, but not enough to see anything or anything like that.

Hard to say why they had such a slow start to flowering. Just keep doing what your doing, they'll come around. One thing to keep in mind is that the plants will double or triple in size before harvest depending on the strain. If I were you I would come up with a game plan on controlling their height quick.

this is wrong, momentary exposure to light in the dark period( as long as it is very brief), the plant will not notice, it is when you have a light leak through all the dark period that it stats to cause problems.

remember the moon is out at night reflecting light onto plants in "dark period"

do they all stress and die?? there would be no plants at all if that were true.

I wondered this myself

Just repeating what I've read but I guess the article I got that from was mistaken. Of course I can't find the article now to show you guys. I agree that if a plant is grown outdoors then the moonlight wouldn't cause problems but if you stuck a plant that is used to complete darkness (ie, in a room or closet) out in the moonlight, I believe that would cause problems, Just my opinion. Below is a Q & A from Ed Rosenthal's website regarding light exposure and bud formation:

Q: One night during the second week of flowering my buds were exposed to a very strong flashlight. I also have a greenhouse and suspect that the buds are exposed to light from headlights coming from the road, about 30 feet away. I’ve noticed that the buds start to tower, and the production of hair is reduced. Is it possible for these buds to fill in?
Do you think the effects are from the single flashlight exposure or from the headlights?
Imantia J., Internet

Ed: A single flashlight experience, even in the important formative stages of the second week, will have little effect on bud development. If the buds are growing thinner and longer than usual then the headlights are the culprits.
