Should i cover my plant in order to get it to flower????

i asked yesterday but didnt get any answers......shes planted in my garden and has been growing for about 6-8 weeks, she has a 4 foot by 3foot in circumference chicken wire fence around her. Now i would like to get it to start flowering sense its summer here in Illinois what should i do?

if you want to start flowewr now then yes you can cover your plant and make her bloom.. or wait tell the change of time and let her flower on her own

some people will tell you to cover her for 12 hours to force flowering . I agree for the most part as this is what I do indoors. What I would be concerned about is the built up heat being outside and covering like a sauna and the lack of airflow. If just ride it out, you should have a really nice harvest.

sense i have the chicken wire fence up can i cover it with lets say a black garbage bag from 8pm to 8 am and just leave about 6 to 8 in from the ground exposed?

Sure, cover the bitch after 12 hours of light. Make her think it's Fall.

I do it all the time when I grow outside on the deck. Works fine except the time I forgot to REMOVE the cover....and let my poor girl sit under a cardboard box in the extreme heat all the next day.....man, it almost killed her.

But IF you can remember to place the cover and remove it the next morning, it works great.

The black garbage bag method isnt really light-proof. A cardboard box is. or, build a box out of 3 sheets of that styrofoam insulation that comes in 4 X 8 sheets. Super lightweight.

if a trash bag will fit over your plant then so will a 33 gallon trash cann.. they will not let any sun in
