Should i flush before harvest

Me, I use fish emulsions and some other things when I'm too lazy to make ACT. Now if I don't stop feeding for two weeks before harvest, my shit going to taste like dead fish. Laugh if you want..
I don't get the insults. Disagree, fine.
So first you said it will spark and taste harsh? Now your saying it will taste like dead fish? I’m confused.

Also have you actually tried a side by? Have you grown it both ways under the same conditions and cured the exact same way? As for the sparking, the only time I’ve seen that happen is too green and too wet. I use fish emulsion as well and feed “sparingly” till the end and never flush ...... no fish smell or taste ever. Fuck I even use miracle grow on some and still no disconcernable difference in taste from the compost grows outdoors.

Lol you know what...I was kinda like...ohh no another flushing thread. I was originally going to say “look up one of the 20 other ones”. I was expecting it to go in the same old direction but wow. It’s true you learn something new every day. Sparkler weed...fish weed.

Kid all I can say is experiment. Try some different things. Look at everything with a bit of skepticism. There is a lot of bad info (bro science) around so unless you know first hand don’t push stuff like you are an authority. Hey prove us wrong do a side by side and a blind taste test.

(For real though if I could make sparkler weed I would do it just for the fuck of it once. I might just seed something and make joints outta it for the 4th instead. Not exactly the same...it would be like a cigarette load or something.)

Btw it’s pretty dead lately so your getting piled on. It’s nothing, we like you. I’ve posted stuff that people have errrr pointed the error of my ways. Merry Christmas. I hope every grow is a great grow. Remember if you can grow great weed no one can take that away from you. If it’s not perfect it’s fun to try and get there.

This thread gave me an idea for an additive. I'm calling it Fourth of July because it will make your weed sparkle when you smoke it. It will be a combination of various heavy metals that will concentrate in the buds. It will be used during the last couple weeks of flowering. The plant will literally "Suck up" the metals.

And for the record, magnesium is not a heavy metal. It is a light structural metal. Heavy metal's would include lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, etc...

You guys are sounding like little kids. Enjoy your shit weed or learn to grow!
A fertilizer company recently attempted to do an actual controlled experiment on this topic! They didn't find anything though. Maybe the effect is small and their experiment was under powered. You should try to replicate it with ten times as many plants.

Who am I kidding? You're going to continue spreading broscience make believe and we'll keep trolling you.

Damn, it's like finding a cult of anti-flushers! Funny shit..
You still haven't explained to all of us dummies how flushing works in the plant. I'm trying to wrap my head around the science of it. Can you help us out? Can you please educate me on how the smell/taste from fish emulsion gets into the actual buds?

Thanks in advance.

I've never flushed any other fruit or vegetable prior to harvesting, I'm not sure what makes MJ so special. I can see drought conditions making more THC or stressing the plant similar to grapes for winemaking though.

Science is merely observation. I find flushed bud is better than non-flushed bud, as simple as that. Not only does it taste better to me, I find non-flushed bud physically hurts my lungs.

I do notice that flushed herb tends to cure faster, and ashes white/grey while plants that are greener tend to be a bit harsher and darker color of Ash, but that's just anecdotal as I usually water the last 7-10 days without nutes, although I don't over feed any of my plants so they tend to yellow out nicely near end of flower.

I don’t know anything but after reading these threads and a few experiments of my own, my style is too feed as lightly as I can get away with and still have a green plant for the whole life of the plant. No flushing. Atleast that’s my goal.
I believe flushing might help to smooth out the smoke on a plant that was overfed. It makes sense cause it will cause the plant to relocate mobile nutrients and possibly make for better smoke. But the same results can be had or better buy using moderate ec levels for the entire grow. Michmedgrower I believe recommended this too me a long time ago.

The term "flushing" fires folks up because of the old bro-science grow books that recommend dumping copious amounts of water through your pots to "remove" nutrients from the plants...its been debunked for many years.
The only thing "flushing" will accomplish (in soil or a peat based medium) is a pH dive and unfavorable conditions in the rhizosphere.
Its also a marketing term used by nute companies so they can sell the unknowing grower, mag water.

Leeching the medium can be helpful if done with bone-meal and a tiny bit of food for the microbes. The bone meal can tie up excess salts helping the plant translocate sugars. It WILL NOT remove nutrients from plants.
I've tried it and found it to be time consuming with no noticeable difference. Possibly because I dont feed heavy and had minimal build up. A rich soil shouldn't need much more than water anyhow.

The real problems with these debates is the lack of understanding for how plants uptake nutrients and with the varying grow methods and mediums the term is frankly, meaningless.

A proper dry and cure along with a dialed in environment and minimal fertigation will take a grower much farther than "flushing".

JFC, Its xmas eve and I've let myself get pulled into the yet another, flushing debate. LMAO

Happy Holidays everyone. Be nice now.

I agree with some of what is being said, but some of you just come off as know-it-all n00bs.
Don't take it personal. This debate is endless and pops up at least once a week here. Its akin to dropping blood in a shark tank.

My unsolicited advice for new growers or users new to the forums - follow advice from those that can display a working knowledge of botany, microbiology, chemistry and horticulture. This forum has several seasoned growers who are proficient in various grow methods...and everything in-between, from lighting tech to genetic biotech.

After awhile you'll be able to distinguish between the genuine gardener and "online" gardener.
And if they're snarky...well, you can ignore or give it right back.
Oh and don't feed the trolls

If used as a foliar feed did that happen? spray poop on the bud
