Can't have too much fresh air! Depends if it's effecting Temp and or Humidity, weither to keep it on at all times.

Yah a 1000 watt I would say keep it going all the time! Should get a Temp/Humidity thermometer cause you can stress them from heat too! Effecting yield in the end...Little invested now can save your ass later...Mj stops growing at 30*C+ for too long. Humidity is also important too 40-60% Veg. 40% or lower for flower or you can get mold if it creeps up to high!

you may want to put it on a timer with the lights depending on how cold it might make your room during your dark cycle.

if you have it turned off at night you'll have to be careful of humidity levels, it shoots up at night without proper extraction

I run mine depending on temp & humidity. It wouldnt hurt to run it all the time. The way I do mine is when the light kicks on I have my ventilation run for 3hrs then its off for 45 mins then runs for 3hrs and so on til the lights go out, once the light goes out I cut my run times back: 2hrs on 2hrs off 2hrs on and so on until lights turn back on.

Times will also depend on the size of your room to vent. A 10x10 room with 8 ft ceilings is 800 cu ft. The smaller the fan the more constantly it will have to be on. Conversely a 4x4x5 room is only 80 sq ft, but the temps will also spike faster in a smaller room (light being the variable).

Just go to walmart and pick up a min/max temp/humidity meter(6$) this will tell the max temp and humidity as well as the min for any length of time(user resettable). Then just trial and error.

I have a bathroom fan bringing in outside air and then exhausting to the outside. Then for my 600w hps I have an eight inch in-line that draws in fresh air and exhausts to the outside. The temp for me seems to stay in the 75f to 85f range. Hope this helps....
