Should I make the cut ?

Dear Farmers,

May I cut this branch into a clone ?

Also, would it be a good idea to soak my coco plugs in a mild solution of AN B-52 as well as treating the stem with rooting powder?

Your expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is that a main branch after a topping?

You would want clones from the bottom of the plant before the top.

I don't use b52 for clones, I mean you could I guess if that's what you're feeling.
I would use kelp and mild nute solution on the blocks or nothing.
Dip in rooting gel.
Mist clones with the block solution.

I made aero cloners to get away from all of that.
PH the water stick it in and a week later prettiest roots you ever saw hanging there.

It looks weak anyway so not sure how that would go for you.

Hi Cx2H,

Thank you for very helpful and detailed response!

Yes, it is from the top of the plant. Reason being, it turned out stretchy due to the light placement. So I figured, it would be best to get some clones from it before discarding it.

Your thoughts on the B-52 makes sense. As well as your suggestion for the rooting gel opposed to powder. Will do!

I had used a small bubbler in the past to try and root clones. In result the stems became soggy and all failed to root.

I have to small branches shooting from the bottom of this thin plant there are about 2 inches in length.

I have attached a photo of my bubbler as well as the tiny branches.

Am not sure what caused my previous clones to fail!

Did you use a humidity dome or foliar feed them when you used the bubble cloner?

Nope, no dome just the bubbler. I mist them whenever I go in the space with mild nute/kelp mix if they need it. The space holds 50-70% on its on.

Maybe he was asking you as well @Mamba01 :-)

That should work depending on how much light the root zone is getting. I have had cuts take 3 1/2 weeks to drop roots, I was fuqing off the PH then too so that maybe why It was taking so long on those.

I made the cheapest sprayer possible from poly feed line for drip irrigation and a T-joint and compression ends and a few 180-degree sprayers pointed up and a gasket I made from half inch flexible PVC from my drip table set up.
Cost for that manifold like 10$ or less if you have drip parts laying around free...
Amazon has 8 site cloners complete with pumps and sheet for 21 shipped as well. With the 3 spoke neos in it, 24 clones a pop.

In a couple of days those little ones are ready.

Hi Hyro Red,

I have not used a humidity dome for this method. Current RH is at 75%. Also have not foliar fed them in the past either.

A big thank you for all of your advice. Am gonna give this contraption another go. Currently The am using one Phillips T5 tube for lighting. Less light the better right?

Big Like on your DIY cloner sounds Rad. Am gonna check the one on Amazon ASAP. In the meantime am gonna pick-up some cloner gel and some bio root as added extras. By then my little ones will be ready to cut!

Thank you!! :joint:

No foliar feed or dome. You gotta make the cutting work for its food by developing roots.

Thanks a ton for this incredible tip HydroRed ! It shall be applied :leaf:
