Should I Move My Plant Into a DWC system?

I really appreciate all the help everyone provides - I have this hydro system I bought from dealzer but I'm not sure if I'm implementing this the right way. If you read from my various posts I'm a newbie at this and I'm learning alot from everyone.

My Pineapple Express strain seems to be growing pretty fast and I'm wondering if I will need to move it into a deep water culture system - i'm assuming the hydro system i got was for the vegetative stage because the container the plant is in now doesn't seem like it can support a fully grown plant.

I've attached a picture for review -

Environment / Schedule
- 3 x 6500k grow light on an 18/6 schedule
- Hydro, air-pump, 2 x pc fans, and small sprinkle of Moon Dust every 2 weeks
- Pineapple Express strain is in the 4th week

Do i have to move this into a bigger bucket (DWC) or will this support an adult plant?

Transparent container is a big no-no, light fucks the roots. Saying that, your girls look pretty healthy. Are you doing something about the light?

I suppose you could use something that size, I don't. Once my girls are about the same size as yours, I move them into 6in net pots in their own 5gal bucket.

Looking at your nutrient solution, and the color of your plant. It looks your under feeding.

I agree with the others -- you have to black-out that container or you can kiss your grow goodbye. And do better on the nutes. If you're going to do hydro you need a ppm meter and a ph meter. Personally, like Hugo Phurst, I prefer my plants in individual buckets so they have room...not so much for the stem but for the branches, especially if you have a bushy plant. Plus if one plant has a problem with the res you don't have to worry about other plants in the same res.

But if this is what you have and you have limited funds, then just blackout the container you have and invest in a ppm meter and a ph meter and better nutes. I like a 3-part system, like Advanced Nutrients micro, grow and bloom. And depending on the natural ppm of your water, you might also need cal/mag. You will also need ph up and down to adjust the ph of the res.

How are you transplanting the 3" netpots in the 6" netpots ?? .. Are the roots hard to get through the 6" netpots ?

Hi Whendex, I tried sending the pics, didn't work. And now that the site is back up...here they are.

As you can see by the first couple of pics, there's no way the roots can be teased out. So I dumped the hydroton, and very carefully cut away as much of the net pot as I could.





Couldn't remove any more without risking real damage.



This is all the root that came/broke off.



A layer of Hydroton on the bottom, spread the roots aroud a bit, very gently add hydroton layer by layer to cover the roots and to support the stalk.




Also, using something like No-Shock is very helpful.
