My seeds are germinating rather slowly, they have been in water for around 5 days now and the shoot is only around 1/8" long, and has stayed this long for two days. Should I plant now or should I keep it in water and let the shoot grow longer? If I leave the seed in water for any longer will it die?

i don't understand the concept of germinating seeds by soaking in water or damp paper towels. i've planted many mj seeds and thousands of vegy and edible herbs and always directly into the finishing pot. much less handling, and it works. i can't help u with the situation of your current seeds as i've never done it. GL

The shoot is only an 1/8" because it's been sitting in water for 5 days. It probably won't recover.
Do yourself a favor and read up on germinating your seeds directly in soil/rockwool/starter plugs or what have you.
Ex. A party cup with slits on the bottom filled with soil geared for seedlings.

I think it's the whole exiting thing that it's a cannabis seed and worth the whole world ,
also for panic stricken newbies to be able too see what's going on,
Also , if they do fail (we know they don't), then you do not have to dig up dirt looking for them,
that make sense ?
Hey Papered, Go in your bathroom, fill your tub up. Now, with clothes on or off, get in and take a DEEP breath and lay down on your back, now see how long you can remain in that position. DONE? Now think how that seed feels. Man you're killing it, if not dead yet. Man, I'll a virgin at this to, I'm a newbie, but with some sense, commom sense.

I put the tomato seeds in a damp paper towel, then into a tupperware with an open lid. Next, I place the tupperware in a dark cabinet. Within 24-48 hours I see taproots and when they grow to an 8th of and inch...right into the rockwool/soil they go. I like seeing the seeds crack open and placing them into the medium taproot down...labour of love.
