hi all

Should I trim some leaves to allow light through or will that damage the girls?

They are autos and about 7 weeks or so in

Thanks

I think you'll hear advice all over the spectrum about this... The plants need leaves otherwise it wouldn't grow them. The leaves act as an on-demand energy source in case the plant needs more nutrients than it can get from the roots at any particular time. The plant targets the fan leaves first before targeting smaller sugar leaves. Your dilemma is real and only you can decide if the improved lighting is worth eliminating nutrient storage... Either way the plant will decide if a single leaf is more valuable dead or alive. Best of luck!

Many thanks sparky I think I'll go with your advice :) .. guess I can always tuck leaves down to expose smaller buds to a bit more light

No matter how much light you give them they always want more! Looks like you have quite a crop! As the plants progress through flower the bigger fan leaves will start to give back (turn yellow)... letting you know which leaves it no longer needs. Your crop looks good!

I neglected to mention it appears your CFLs might not have shrouds... Light from CFLs exits at a 90 degree angle from the tube making it omni-directional... You can increase the amount of light getting to the plants if you place them inside reflectors. Best of luck!

The more leaves a plant has the more likely it is to survive a catastrophe (other than mold/rot). Leaves do a lot of things, food reserves being one of them.

Also, there's no rule saying you can't harvest in stages. Take the top half when ripe and ready, leave the rest to finish up for a week or two.

Also, also, harvesting in stages can cause the plant to put out more trics in an attempt to save itself from the Creature chopping hunks o' plant away.
