The 26watts should be just fine, and don't put out that much heat anyway. Use the Y splitters, and you could also just get one of the 'socket to plug' adapters for that and put it straight into the extension cord. That adapter will essentially give you an extension cord that ends in a light socket - which you can then put anywhere you want it. I used a worklight that had the protective plastic cage removed. It also has an on/off switch and two outlets on it that can be used for additional lights, or to plug in fans, etc. The only down side is that it cost $6, as opposed to about $2 for the more simple adaptor. The worklights are more heavy duty, and give the option of piggybacking multiple pairs of CFLs from just one power cord. If you get a medium to heavy duty guage wire, the cord can handle several pairs of lights, no problem. It also gives the CFLs nice spacing without need for the expense of an actual fixture. Get the 2700k lights for flowering, at least as many as you veg with. The larger plants will like more light, and you can use some for filling in side lighting. I got a 'contractor 12 pack' of 2700k bulbs at Home Depot for a great price, so I have plenty of flowering bulbs to fill in as needed.
