I got a small tattoo of my name in "Cinerama" style on my left upper arm in Honolulu in 1976 and then had some small embellishments added in Hong Kong later that year- I paid $5 for the original tattoo and the equivalent of $1US for the add on, from a guy named Pinky Yan in the Suzy Kwon district.

A man who wanted a six-pack decided to ditch the gym and went to a tattooist to get the results he was after - and got rock-hard abs tattooed onto his stomach.
Dean Gunther, 34, shared the unusual inking on TikTok and said that a customer wanted a toned stomach and had been working out at the gym for years.
But the man had never seen the gains he was after, so he turned to Dean, who is a travelling tattoo artist from South Africa currently residing in Manchester.
Together they came up with a plan and etched out a series of impressive looking abs onto the man's stomach - and the end result was incredibly impressive.
It looks quite convincing from a distance
But not so much from this angle

Speaking to The Sun, Dean said: "I had seen really bad ones attempted before. Because I specialise in colour realism I wanted to give it a go.
"I thought it would be funny as hell.
"The client nearly quit one hour into it on the first day but we got there."
Dean said that he didn't charge the customer for the tattoo as it was more of a passion project for him.
Some fans didn't believe the tattoo was real, so Dean shared a video of the amusing inking on TikTok and soon he was inundated with comments.
One follower said: "Please tell me this is a joke?"
And another wrote: "Bro ain’t no way."
Then a third commented: "If you can’t tone it tat it."
