that was my 3rd grow in the last 3 years, t5's and two 600w hps in tents.....

First time grower. I built my own light. 8 COB's, cxb 3590's @3500k in a Gorilla 3x3. Doing a no-till organic approach. I had some mites early on so I sprayed with Spinosad and added some predator insects, this seems to have gotten things under control. I've taken some clones using Aloe and they look really healthy 2 days in. The back two are Dr. Who's (from seed) the front left is Sour Tangie and front right is Gorilla Glue #4. I put the Dr.Who's on wine crates to get them to the same height as the front two. Thinking of flipping in a week or two, I'd just like the Dr.Who's to get a little more height. I was thinking of pulling the stakes and putting some netting in, but with 3 different strains going at once I'm still not sure if this is a wise move. I've been topping the sour tangie and gorilla glue quite a bit to keep them low. I don't want this grow to get out of control so any any advice, particularly regarding when to initiate flowering would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. It was a labor of love. I can run it passively if I want. Turned up all the way the temp of the heatsinks never goes above 105F with the fans off, with them on it sits at about 80. Going to add a far red module next to use as a budding initiator.

nice, would like to see pics of that, i want to build one for a 5x5 tent for veg and one for a 5x9 flower room any idea's??

You'll find some ideas there and in the LED lighting section. For a 5x5 veg you could probably get away with 4 cobs spaced out on a center rail to give full coverage to room. That'd be 200w. I'd suggest 5000k 3590's for that, but it's important to get other opinions too. For the flower room, you're going to want quite a few cobs. I dare say upwards of 20-30. The initial cost is high but they will last many seasons. Check out Growmau5's youtube page.


When I expand I plan to go with a similar design.

All up it cost about $700 to build. Not bad considering I was initially going to spend $1300 on something that wasn't going to be anywhere near as good.
