I have another veg room with the same ebb system.
PH drop from 5.7 to 4.7 in five days, but I dont see anything wrong with the plants.(leaf are green and roots are white)
EC also go up form 1.0 to 1.3
waht does that mean?

I change out the res with fresh nute.
I was sitting there to observe it flood.
Ph 5.8 EC 0.95 before the flood, after one flood PH drop to 5.75, EC raise to 1.0

Any feedback are welcome
cheers
@HydroRed already told you a dropping pH means you have an infection. Wash everything with something like Comet cleanser with bleach. Use a circulating dose of H2O2 that will also give you a bit of a dissolved oxygen boost. Add in air stones if you don't have them. Watch and correct your pH daily until get this under control Once the grow is over I'd toss my medium instead of trying to clean it.

EC going up means they are taking more water than nutrient or you are having evaporation issues. Check your temps. Your res needs to be in the 60s

Good luck

Hydroponics is hydroponics, roots need to be living in cool oxygenated water. They can never dry out.How long does the pump run on ea cycle? If its only minutes then
put your timer on to flood once an hour, your plants will start to look better in no time.

I had a look at your system, very odd.It appears to have one pump to flood and another to drain??
With all the pails at the same level and the res the same
edit to add your system looks different, not sure what the idea is.Maybe someone here understands it.
I have chiller pump pull back chll water back to res that make waterfall, isnt that make enough oxygen in the res?
I had flood four times a day 15 mins each when lights on, no flood when lights off.

Yes this system have to pump one in main bucket and one in res.
main bucket have two value sensor( high and low level water) connect to the controller.
the drian pump can not pull out all of the water
I set buckets higher that less water left in the buckets when drain, but they are still some left in the tubes heating up.
I just keep the heat water away with root zone when its drian as possible, not sure if it would help.
I was also wondering how the roots get any air inside those buckets. I'm not sold on that type of system at all.
Im thought they could get air when its diran?:o
I have experienced this system with good crops, but not this one
Thinking dirty hydrotons could be one reason too
Is the rainbow coloured link not showing up? maybe you have sigs turned off.
alight I see, just checking it

Do you have a bubbler or a venturi in the master res? If not, Id add a nice one since that will be effectively what feeds all the other buckets and there isnt anything to add D.O. to the water since theres no drip/waterfall effect anywhere throughout the system to add it naturally. I have a flood and drain tray that I dont keep a bubbler in the res because the waterfall action of the drain portion of the setup keeps the D.O. naturally in the water every time it floods and drains.
I dont have bubbler in the res, but have waterfall from chiller pump, do I still need bubbler?
You are right. they weren't getting better. roots went dirty again.
I clean everything with water. flush again with H2o2 for a day.
change with tap water(EC 0.2) 3 tablespoon maxi gro today.

the roots are saturated :)
yeah that sucks man

Adding a bubbler to your res will make your water more oxygenated and keep things stirring up. Have you ever seen a fish tank that has minimal oxygen? Doesn’t take long to see alge!
Yes I will add bubbler, but I thought waterfall from chiller pump already make oxygen in the res?

Thanks for the feedback!
I only use bleach cleaning my system. I have flush my hydrotons with bleach.
It killed almost all the plants back then, so I dare use any bleach when plants on.
I wonder when you use comet cleanser with bleach, would you rise hydrotons and roots?

I thought when EC go up it means too much nutes. My res temp its on point (68F)
I will also add a bubbler to see how it goes
again thanks

You can use bleach during your run just not large amounts of it. When I ran NFT with Hydroton I always kept bleach in my reservoir. I wanted a sterile, or at least aseptic reservoir. If your city provides chlorine in your water instead of chloramine you can simply use tap water.

As for my recommendation to use Comet cleanser that is not to use while the plants are in it. If you need to clean your buckets, reservoirs use Comet then rinse well. You need to knock out the source of infection.

If you can't keep your reservoir water around 68 I encourage you to consider moving to Coco Drain to Waste as it can take warmer water without root rot issues.

Looks like fusarium wilt. When I was growing cyclamen that was somewhat common. it always starts with one side of the plant wilting then yellowing leaves especially on older tissue, then root rot like you have. looks pretty advanced and its kinda a lost cause at that stage usually, at least in cyclamen. but ive never dealt with it in cannabis so maybe you can save them... always wondered if they could get it now i know

Personally I’d pull the plant. Sterilize the system and get familiar with pool shock. It’s cheap as shit and works wonders for me. I’m on well water and have pythium just festering in my water. Been great since running pool shock

Only reason I’m suggesting pulling the plant is your system is using a shared res and clearly your having trouble following @HydroRed advice step by step. If you don’t get it under control the rest of your plants will suffer the same fate

Pull the plant sterilize everything else and get some pool shock to keep it at bay before you loose more

Thanks for point it out
do you clean your system in between run use this product?
they recommand soak everything in for 24hrs sounds its a good clean.
Can I use this when plants are on the system?
cheers

How much bleach do you put in the reservoir.

Do you use Comet to clean in between runs including all the tubing and pumps?
Do you just wipe the system with Comet or soak everything in it?
I fund its not easy to clean the tubing when its dry.

My res temp always stay around 68-69. It kind of tells its water left in the buckets when drain heat up cause the roots problem
coco drain and waste? haven't use coco in my life.
Do you mean use coco instead hydroton for the medium in my system?
Is coco hard to handle?
Again thanks for the feedback
cheers

Yes im going to pull it off. just like you said It kind of effect other plants.
How much pool shock you put in the res? Do when all the time or only when plants suffer?
Im from oversea, It takes about two weeks to be in hand. Do you think H2o2 or bleach can do the job?
cheers

Bleach i add .5ml per gallon every 3 days.

Pool shock just search the forum. you have to mix a concentrate solution and the add a small amount of the concentrate every 3 days.

Bleach and pool shock use different types of active chlorine I couldn’t tell you the different off hand. But I’ve run bleach and pool shock. I’m using pool shock because because I wanted to try it and now have 10year supply of chemical for the $10 I spent so I need to use it up

Whatever route you decide to go weather it be bennies, bleach, pool shock Or H2o2 just make sure you keep constantly adding it on a regular schedule

Laundry bleach uses sodium hypochlorite and pool shock uses calcium hypochlorite. For running in your hydro system use calcium hypochlorite since the plants really don't need the sodium. So do a search on the forum for it and you'll get the mix.

For terminal cleaning of a system scrubbing all hard surfaces with Comet cleanser and running pool shock at a higher level through your pumps and lines works. Also change Hydroton since there's no way to really make it aseptic now. After this just sock it in your cleaning solution.

Make sure you drain and rinse well before putting back into use.

Growing with coco is covered all over the board, just do a search.

I knew there was a difference in the active chemical I just was to lazy to search it. I enjoy my pool shock keeps things nice and clean

Interested to see how the OP is making out. Are any of the other plants infected?

Yes the Enzymes Komplete goes right into the system as soon as you notice the root rot.I dont use it between runs its too expensive. It worked for me the first time i had the rot.I keep it on the shelf in case I need it again.

I will definitely get some pool shock.
I wonder by use ether H2o2 bleach or pool shock, I can not use any organic additive with it together right?
I use some humid acid, silca, kelp and other additive show organic on the label.
wonder if I can still use it.
again thanks

Yes I did some research, I wonder if I can do it with my recirculating system, not drain to waste type.

cheers

after two weeks fighting.
I pull all the sick plants today.

And there is also a healthy one being effect
I also see rot on the middle part of the roots zone.
and some new white root. might be the sign of they are coming back?

My advice if you are on a budget ligrow, buy a few net pots, get your hands on a few 10 litre plus buckets, a half decent bubbler, air line, air stones and hydroton and try dwc.
You can get amazing results with dwc for minimal up front costs!
I don’t think your setup is very noob friendly (no offence intended)

yeah I would put money on that being fusarium. Roots are more or less in tact and not total mush and half of the plant is fucked while the other half looks better, pretty classic symptoms. So what happens is that the fungus actually clogs the xylem of the plant. As the disease progresses it blocks the plants transpiration stream, and basically mimics drought conditions... untill the plant tissue affected dies.

I think pool shock will work to sanitize your grow, but that might be kinda expensive. When I was a commercial greenhouse grower we had great success by using a fairly highly concentrated bleach and water mix. This was an ebb and flood greenhouse range so every pipe, spigot, nozzle you name it was treated as the disease was in the lines and the spores would lay dormant year to year. Before they went to that extreme the owner almost gave up on growing cyclamen as it was such a problem, but when I was growing them during my time there we had very few issues with it because of the bleach treatment.

after we bleached the lines we ran like 5 cycles of clear water thru them and we were good to go. Grew 45k cyclamen that year and only lost a handful to fusarium wilt and never drenched with fungicide! most growers hate growing cyclamen, but I quite enjoyed it.

There's even a demo of it in my sig, using just 3 $5 tubs some clay balls and a tiny 6.5W pump, no airstone necessary. I'm going to start a new journal soon demoing the beauty of simplicity.
