Side lighting

Got my sidelights up and switched to flower. Overkill?? I don't see why not. I turned down my upper light to about half. My sides are about 30 watts per strip. I'm gonna ramp up over time but they look happy as of now. Upper light is a ac infinity evo 8 and side lighting is a rdj bouns 720 cut up.

Looks like they'll eventually be growing too close to the strips, no?

I'm all about side lighting but yes that's prob overkill lol. The prob I always find with side lighting inside a tent is when the plant grows up into the lights the stuff in front gets too much light. All I do now is run 3x 3ft sunblaster led conversion bulbs on the sides and back of the tent. I've thought about running one strip down the middle of the tent between the plants but haven't really done that yet. It 100% helps those lowers stay tighter and helps with overall stretching etc.

Ya that's something I'll definitely be watching for. My plan is to add another net once the stretch is over and train everything accordingly. Also I ran these strains last round so I kinda already how much they should go hopefully haha

You def get better results being able to distance the side lighting adequately if you aren't in a tent, or if you aren't going wall to wall with plants in the tent. I keep toying with the idea of getting an actual room going again, and scrap the tents. Just haven't gotten around to doing to work lol. I might just do it this summer in my growing off time. But then again I've been saying that for three years now.... bongsmilie

1 week update photos these girls are happy af. Did some more cleaning up on bottom. They're in full go mode. Bumped top light up 10%

Just thought I'd post some updates. Plants are chugging along smoothly. Ph 5.8 in the res. 1500 ppm per feed schedule from athena. Roots at the bottom are exploding out the fabric pots. They're basically tapping the water on the wicking bases. I think the stretch was a bit more this round being in coco with unlimited water. Looking forward to the next 6 weeks. Cheers :weed:

If stretch is over, and correct me if I'm wrong, then aren't the side lights meant more for the lower - mid part of the plant, that doesn't receive much light from the top?

Yea ok. I thought that was their intended use. I just started experimenting myself.

I'm gonna be switching to a much smaller tent after this run, so i figure one more set, and i should have it covered. I'm hoping to see at least a snail difference in the bud growing in those lights.

Plant looks nice and healthy. Ya I was gonna buy 2 sets of the ac infinity side lights and I was like why spend almost 200 dollars and maybe see a difference or just go full Monty and know if they're doing the job. At least I can re used this light I'll just make new sides for the straps to bolt on to. Hope they work out for you

Following for sure. This makes sense that it would increase yield but we need to see if it pays its own way.
Do you have any par or lux changes from off to on with the lower nodes? Love data and will gladly read yours.

Did that sound creepy? Kinda sounded creepy.......

Curious in Ohio
Has anybody used a vertical net to train the side lite plants level?
Wind up with a square box of cannabis ..

I'm gonna get some ppfd #s tonight. Unfortunately all I got is the photone app on my phone so that's all I got to go by. I'm kinda interested in seeing how much it effects the #s too with the light being so low. Before I was getting around 450 ppfd to the top of the plant after bumping up top light to 70% and keeping the sides at 20%

Kinda weird results but to be expected. Center under canopy 50 ppfd. Around 1 foot from the edges of my tent under the canopy I'm getting about 200-250 ppfd. Where the light intersects down low I got 450. Up top at the highest bud side 650. I mean the lights are putting out some power and I can definitely turn them up from here.
