Signs of When You Want to Harvest

I was reading this article and wanted to see some comments from the forum
http://www.cannabis-seed-banks.com/cannabis-harvesting.html

Keep in mind, a bud weighs more when fully ripe. It is what most growers like to sell, but take some buds early for yourself, every week until you harvest, and decide how you like it for yourself. Grow the rest to full maturity if you plan to sell it.
I suspect most of the veteran growers will probably have it down to a science, keeping everything consistent and getting great results.

Wondering how much growers taste or feel a difference with the buds that are picked earlier than other buds on the same plant. I thought most growers just wait, but this article makes me curious in the quality that growers here have noticed on buds that are picked 'early'

I harvest none to sell...only to use myself along with a few good friends. Been at this for several years now (growing) but been using the bud for 4+ decades....I remember always wondering what this lid would be like and hoping it was ------. My first year growing, I collated info I collected along with physical signs of the plants maturity in order to define types and results of various strains....found that harvest maturity definitely determines just what type of high would be attained...kinda a sliding scale that was movable per "ripeness".....I harvested early, mid-early-mid-mid-late-late and certainly found a differnce and the type of high I liked per that strain group. Found I could harvest a heavy indica a bit early to achieve a head buzz AND the couchlock....and harvesting a sativa dom to get more body lick along with the head buzz.....IE...harvest maturity could actually "color" the strain overall....AND the resulting effects...
That being said, I have found I much prefer an energized high + body stone which I found most pleasing when I harvest with 95% cloudy trics, a few clear and even fewer amber. THAT has become my NORM...and those who've helped me burn the evidence echo the attributes of the results.
I hear so many people who talk about a real stone and loving amber trics and that's good for them...there is a way to harvest so that you get that result out of most strains just as it is possible to harvest with a cerebral buzz as a primary effect too. It's all about preference and the ability to define that preference in harvest habits.
Just my 2 cents and how I do it.

I didn't really pay attention to the
Grow the rest to full maturity if you plan to sell it.'
part of the quote and I realize that most growers now 'grow to smoke' not sell. I find what oldreefer said above very interesting because as a newbie I was just planning on waiting until the plant is ready before nibbling at anything. But now I see a magnifier glass or something to ID the crystal color is important.

Btw, there are alot of forums but this one seems to have a certain brotherhood of growers that makes the topics more informative.

Any more comments appreciated, thanks.
