Simple question about fertilizer

i'm using 20-20-20 on newly transplanted clones, probably a little less than 6" tall. they havent been growing fast (or even moderate) in the last couple days.

i'm guessing this is partly because the soil is organic and does not have any added nutrients.

anyways so i sprayed 1 of 3 plants just to see how it would work out.

my friend tells me later that you shouldnt spray the actual plant with the fert mix, you should spray the soil.

So spray the soil?

organic soil does have nutrients in it. how do you think plants grow outside? mystical ninjas round around fertilizing the enitre earth? (not trying to be mean or smart-ass, just in a joking mood!)

I wouldnt foliar feed.. and i would give those clones more time before you fert them. most soils have enough nutes for 4 weeks if fresh. When you do add ferts to the soil start at 1/4. and try to invest in a better fert, is the 20-20-20 you speak of miracle grow? if so.. yuk, definitly dont spray this on your leaves unless you like seeing salt buildup.

p.s. you dont want to just spray the top of the soil, you want to mix it in your water, then water with it.. so that it actually makes it to the roots
