Simply NORTHERN LIGHTS! 350watts CFL's.

Ya man those nugs are looking very very good. I wouldn't go as far as to say that though, its just big yeild difference thats about it. You still have some killer looking nugs don't get me wrong, the cfls just can't compete on yeild. This is my first hid grow and I can already tell and I'm just hitting my 6th week. Keep it going though my man no hate here just speaking my high mind haha.

:leaf::peace::leaf:

Good morning GFK :-)
Well, first I have to congratulate you on your news (just read your journal!), as a father of 3 teenage girls myself I know what you got coming ! ...... but honestly, its all good :-)

OK, so this HPS v CFL 'debate'. Yes, your plant will yield very well BUT if I read your journal correctly you vegged for almost 6 weeks? My plant was vegged for just 14 days. It took 12 days to show first roots then another 4 days before I repotted her THEN I counted 14 days before she went into 12/12. As so many others have said before the key to yield is maturity of the plant and the longer you veg the more she will yield. Its about way more than just lighting. That said your plant is a beauty and I respect your opinion.

GFK, I grew with HPS lamps for 10 years so I know what they can do. Why did I stop? simple........ early morning knock on the door couple of years back, 7 police officers with a search warrant, 26 plants found, 1000 watts of HPS lighting resulting in arrest and a rather unpleasant day spent locked in a cell awaiting questioning :-( That experience kind of makes you rethink your grow plans you know!

So thesedays its very small scale, I keep just 3 plants in my house at any time max and grow in a very small and simple looking set up :-) But after two and a half years of growing with CFL's I see no reason to go back to HPS again, honestly I don't. I've smoked enough bud over the last 30 years to know that what the CFL's produce is as as good as anything I have grown under HPS and anything I have smoked on trips to Amsterdam. I will stand by that. Thats just my personal opinion based on quite a fair bit of experience in this game. Others I am sure will disagree but I'm clear in my own mind on this one.

I'll dig up some recent pics of my CFL grows and post them here. It's not a competition I know, as jjmd said its about whats good for the individual.

Great journal btw GFK, rep+ for that one.

In support of the case for CFL's (only joking, I don't want my thread to become a HPS v CFL stand off! :-) ).. Heres a couple of recent pics from the spring/summer grows) Strain is Hindu Kush, again 2 weeks veg time/LST/350watts of CFL's.

I'll update NL pics in a couple of days time.

Thanks by the way I'm still really nervous about all that. I just hope to get enough off of these next three runs to last me until July of next year haha. I hear ya on that bro. Again I was in no way trying to battle the HPS vs. CFL battle its one that will never end no matter what. Sucks about the cops showing up at your door. I'd shit a brick haha. Your right I vegged her for 6 weeks took a couple clones and threw her into flower. But as a single plant I'll be very happy to get 120+ grams out of that. I got the clone I'm about to throw into flower and also I just germed three seeds as well. I love those kush photos they look sooooo damn frosty in those pics. How was the smoke? I bet it was couchlock to the max with uncontrollable munchies huh? I'm hoping my kush is a very very narcotic stone with rock hard nuggets.

I went back and checked out your pics. I was intrested in looking at weather you had any lights on the sides of your grow area? I want to add 2 cfl's to the 4 t8 floro's that I'm using now, it would triple the wattage I have now. As the plant grows the, lights would end up more on the sides. Is this a problem?

The light from the t8 wont penetrate to the bottom of the plant so it would be in the plants and ur best interest to get lights for around the plant. It will help the plant grow to be maximum yields.

hi guys and girls. thanks alot maturesmoker. i'm using CFL 250 watt blue spect and 125 watt red spect. i dont have hps nor shall i use till next year or so. so i sticking with cfl just asking will they bud okay with these to light specterms? i might get a 250watt red spect...? please help out ill post new pictures up soon. just started to bloom. one of my feminized plants turned male but little hairs are visable in the male pollen sacks....? look on my profile for pics your have to zoom ..?

ur going to want more red spectrum 2700k for flowering the blue or soft white 6500 is for vegging. if those are actual cfl wattage and not incandescent then u should be good for a plant or two just add more 2700 then the 6500 for flowering. GL

if thats the cfl wattage like power said you should be fine get you a couple more of the 2700k (red spectrum) lights and youll be good. Having the mix of red and blue is good during flowering. But add more red to your mix though bro.

Hey yall just started growing some babies. I got them already grown from a local clinic and they are about a foot and a half. I have three 23w 6500k's running for 4 plants in a 13'' x 24'' and 5 feet tall. My lighting situation is just normal cans and I was wondering what the lighting fixtures that split the light so I can pretty much have two lights running instead just one. I wanted to replace the three I have at the top with three that can be split up two each. So a total of 6 over the plant and then i would put the 3 cans I had previously at the bottom to feed it light. Kinda catch my drift?

You get them at walmart in the small lighting section. Y splitters is what they are called. You can also pick up build a lamp kits to for light sockets and then you can hang them vertical hanging down. I wouldn't get bulbs from walmart though leave that for homedepot or lowes.

nice fucking LST training son. You did it right!!! Excellent grow.

and once again.. this goes to show.. to all of our "cfl grower haters"... to show them that we too
can grow just as potent bud with our lights.. as they can with theirs!!! hah!

booyah.

peace.

really.....

simply amazing. You sir, did a great job. Truly amazed what CFL's can do.

Thank you very much RPsmoke420 and everyone whos commented. Just a quick update and I'll answer any questions tomorrow when I have more time :-)

***********************

One of the NL under the CFL's today @ 7 weeks exactly.

A shot of a NL clone cut from the above plant, shes going into flower shortly.

And one for GFK whos growing a nice Kush strain :-) THis is my HIndu Kush I'm revegging. Shes been back in 18/6 for 21 days and you can see all of the new re-generative growth all over, the single blade serrated leaf is just starting again with the largest right at the top. I LOVE watching this happen, something about the new shoots slowly emerge from the old buds. Just magical. Shes got another 3 weeks vegging now then I take my cuts and reflower her for a second harvest :-)

Thanks again all.
