single plant trash can grow

to all,

everything looks great!

the lucas formula is a lifesaver for me. i recently had to move out of my apt but i kept my trashcan there because i had nowhere else for it. so for around a month i have only been around three or four times. i've been seeing my plant once a week and everything looks SOOOO healthy. when i'm here for my visit i refill the res (usually around two gallons) and mix up my addback nutes.

for example i haven't been here in a week. the plant had drank about two and a half gallons of water. the pH was around 6.2 and the EC at 2.06, so the plant is consuming water and nutrient at around the same pace, the pH drifted up because of my source water. so all i had to do to get my res exactly where i wanted it was add 2mL's of pH down (because my tap is around 8 ), two and a half gallons of water, and 4.5mL's of micro and 9mL's of bloom (1/3 of a dose of 0-5-10 for every gallon of addback).

i'm not saying the lucas formula is the best. i'm saying that its very convenient for me. i seriously doubt most other hydro systems can be left alone for a week at a time without having to worry at all. and this is my first grow, first hydro setup, this is still a learning process for me.

the guys that have been watching it for me say that its really nothing more than peeking in there every so often to look at it. they don't have to mess with the pH or the EC, temp is fine. plant looks so health and green, starting to get the pungeant (sp) skunk smell when you rub the stem (mmmmmmm)

it seems that the trash can is kind of plug and play.... well.... plug and then you play after three months.... :)

i've decided that i'm going to be making tincture with my harvest. not all the harvest, but definately enough tincure to discreetly medicate on a regular basis.

seeds,

i will get around to making a list of stuff to make this puppy. that list is available on the link i posted in my OP, but i have no problem writing one up myself.

as for carbon filters, i was looking into the DIY zen design myself, but then i thought that i could just by those foamy carbon filter pieces and layer them under my extraction fan so that the fan pulls air throught the filter. either that or the zen desighn all the way!!

leave some love

oh yeah,,

i'm definately going to be tying. i get the feeling that one good tie down and that's all it'll need. benefit of this seems to even more bushiness.

i'm a lil disappointed at how stretchy this thing is but hey, thats what i get from planting a seed from a monster tree in a trash can.

after i tie it it'll bush out.

more hairs showing... :D

the main stem is more than an inch in diameter. looks like a wooden broom handle.

CAN'T WAIT TILL FEBRUARY!!!

Very cool "grow room."

Do your buds get dense enough? I grew with floro's, but mine came out big and light. Some forum said you need hps to get dense nugs. Not sure if that's important for potency or not.

Also, seems like hydro is overkill for that size grow. Wouldn't soil be easier?

Further explain your theory on how the size of the grow effects the difficulty of hydro.
How would soil be any easier?

okay finally got to see her. she's looking mighty fine but is progressing slowly... she's still not mature and its going on eleven weeks or so... all else aside, she's very green and healthy. sweet and sharp smelling no filter needed. almost every square foot in trash can is filled with green. its amazing how bushy this plant is. heres the pic update.

is it eleven weeks into flower? any idea what strain it is, sorry i read the journal front to back but i cant remember the strain coming up. i know that my chem dawg plant is about 10 weeks into flower and its looking like it needs at least 2 more, so be patient and wait for all the pistols to go red and the trichs to go solid.

Will be building one of these as soon as I am in my new place. Just got an air scrubber for my apartment and so I will be able to control odor. My grow space is too small for my tent, so the trashcan idea is EXCELLENT!
