Slow growing under hps questions

Hey guys I have a critical haze plant that has been under a 500w (1000w dimmed 50%) hps for about 5 weeks now and it seems to be growing hella slow? Its in soil at the moment was going to take cuttings for hydro but wanted some advice first.

It looks healthy enough just grow rate is so slow.

Setup is 4x4 tent, 8 inch ducting, 1000w hps (dimmed 50%), 24c temp.
If never had a plant grow so slow, but this is a new setup ...

it does look small for the age and the light you are using.....it's healthy so it's not like you are over watering/nutes.

how far away is the bulb....i'm thinking if you increase the distance it may get it to stretch a bit

The light is as close as I can get it at about 10", as I thought the penitration would be better. So as far as stretching goes would I be better off stretching it or leaving it short and shrubby? What way would yield more?

I just started a few different strains which should give me a better idea of grow comparisons.

i think if you want to take clippings, it may be better to stretch it out a bit.

personally I veg at about 12-14 inches away....and keep it closer (10 inches) during the flower stage

if you want it to stretch a little back the light off abit for a few days and watch it sprout a few millimeters a night, keep the plant up to it daily to keep it bushy, looks good and healthy tho

sometimes certain plants grow really slow under hps because of the red in spectrum. You would think to maybe throw couple compact fluorescent. With 6400 unless of course you have a metal halide you can put in until you flower
