slow growth

Hi all,

I am on the 34th day of my first white widow grow in soil and I am concerned that my plants are not growing tall enough. It seems like most of the posts on here state that they veg their plants for aprox 30 days at which point they are aprox 12 inches tall. My tallest plant is aprox 9.5 inches and my smallest is aprox 6". Should my plants be bigger for this amount of time? I am growing under floros for veg stage in a grow tent.

I have a 4.5 foot tall grow tent for veg.
Lighting is 27k lumens of florescent grow lights (4 foot tubes from htg)
5.5 square feet of grow space
Ocean forest soil
Started using nutes in week three (grow big/big bloom at quarter strength)
Have carbon filter w/ inline fan for air flow
Temp range from 70-75 degrees humidity 30-40%

wow man sounds like a good setup! honestly by what you have just told me everything sounds good, the only thing i can suggest is investing in a HID like a 250w dual spect for the whole cycle they put out inbetween 30/35k lumens, it rele does sound like overcrowding to be honest maybe the fluros jus arnt pentrating through the canopy of your plants? i would also suggest putting some cfl sidelights in and keeping them within 2 inches of your plants. Also try using some nitrozyme on them (folier or as feed) its completely organic and ive had fantastic results www.growthtecnology.com heres a link to there site it does wonders for vegging plants especially as folier spray in your dark period. I hope this helps mate, feel free to msg anytime, good luck pal

Im using 4 foot flouros in my veg box, just got em a few days ago.. I love em. How close are yours to your plants? You have good stuff it sounds like. Whats your ph in and out?

plants cant get burned from flourescent tubes thats y people sometimes put them vertically all round their grow box's the plants can literally lean up against them there weak as f#ck unless they are T 5's there more powerfull and are designed for vegetation rooms, but plz check ur tubes first if you can keep ur hand ON it then u should be fine to leave them as close as u like. happy growin man

the lions share of heat when using tubes is at the ends. slow growth can sometimes be attributed to the root-zone being too cold. are your containers sitting on cement or something cold?

no the tent is sitting on my floor. Should I rotate the plants in the tent so that they are all exposed to the different areas of light evenly?

yes rotate daily, give them a quarter turn every day that way it is gettin the best exposure, i have found that in rotating ur pots u get a pretty symetrical growth pattern aswell, also yes i must agree with not having ur pots on the floor but this is more out of preference than proven technique, keep them on pot dishes i raise my pots off the floor using odd ends of wooden batton i feel like my soil mix will have more oxgen in it this way but like i said that is MY preference fo MY grow space and may not be as suitable to everyone.

.......... read my thread.

I experienced the very same thing. You'll find my thread very interesting. For me, my problem was very crappy soil and very cool nighttime temps. But I got things on track. Also, know that flouros are slower, but I learned from my experience that they can work okay; that was not my main problem. You have to have high output flouros, though, and you are fine if you keep them down within four inches of your plants' canopy.

Good Luck!

In my first grow I learned this. If your temps are down into the 50 any significant time of the day, it will significantly slow your growth.
