Small ducted dehumidifier?

Looking for a quality de-humidifier that I could port, allowing me to have it outside the room if I wanted.

Only a 8x9x9 flower room and 6x9x9 veg.

All of the ported units I've seen are for a larger volume than I have.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'd like to have the dehumidifier just outside the grow room, and duct the air past the cooling condensers.

I don't know of a commercially made solution, but a DIY solution would be simple here. A dehumidifier in a sealed box with two duct flanges for intake/exhaust, add your in-line fan, done.

Parts: piece of plywood, a 2x2, a tube of calk, two flanges, screws, a fan, ducts, and your choice of dehumidifier.

You will need a saw, a drill, and a brain to accomplish this though.

To simplify I'm looking into either Santa Fe or Quest. The Quest looks great but pricey

Just rechecked your volume, and it depends a lot on temps, lights and transpiration, but I'm betting you'll probably need a larger dehumidifer than you think. So getting a inline model may not be overkill.

But wait your trying to dry the air before it gets in the room? That won't work as well. Higher temps , and high humidity make the dehumidifer work better.

Sounds to me look OP is looking for a way to keep the dehumidifier working like it's in the grow room but without taking up the space. OP is looking for a recirculating dehumidifier system?

Really OP needs to give all the conditions, how venting is setup (where does air come from and go to, at what rate/control), ...
How warm is weather when growing or growing year round? ... Need to know where we can most efficiently relocate heat/humidity.

I'm looking at having a sealed grow room with CO2 addition. The de-humidifier would be outside room, so as not to introduce the heat. So a ducted unit pulls warm air from high on the wall, past the de-hume, and then back into the grow room. So a closed loop.

I don't think that will work like you want. To be honest I've never seen the inner workings of an inline dehumidifier, but I believe it just works the same as any other. Otherwise it would have to have some separate exhaust port/ vented separate chamber for heat output.

By design they cool the air, then reheat the air with waste heat, making the air have a lower RH.

Thanks for the thoughts and link.

The Quest have separate supply and return with a 230+ CFM fan to move the air. Condensation pump, etc. They're marketing it for this specific function.

If you're going to have a sealed room you are obviously going to have an air conditioner...in a room that size I cannot imagine the dehumidifier making that much heat difference to control your temps with the help of that a/c... what you are trying to do sounds like a lot of work and money for it to maybe work. If you are worried about it taking up space in your 8x9 room just hang it on the wall in the corner or something out of the way (IN THE ROOM) :wall:
