Small grow

Long time listener, first time caller.
I have a small space. 36W x 36L x 55H for flowering. 18x36x55 for a small veg and clone.
I just want to have 2 plants flowering at a time. I have a height issue though.

I have a 3x3 flood table, it rests on a short frame that keeps it 2" of the floor.
Nutes sit out to the side and below.
Throw a 6" pot in there and I only have 47" from the ceiling.
Now put a 250w hps in a reflector hood and I have 30" left to grow in.
Keep the plants 12" from the light and the maximum height they can grow is...
Crap...I suck at math....18".
Using Scrog or sog, not sure.

Any suggestions on growing method? 250 gonna cut it? The ballast switches to 400 so I will use that for the last week.
Might throw an LED on each side of the hps.
Worthit?

Much appreciated.

I'd really like to use

why not use cfls should work ok in that small space and give you a bit more room to work with also heat may be an issue in such cramped conditions and as for the plant you may have to tie the hell out of the plant and about the 6 inch put try using a wider pot and shorter height

I use cfls now.
Two 2' t-5s and 6 75w cfls in reflectors.
I really am looking to grow some tight nugs, not the loose and airy.
Wanted to move the cfls to the veg room. Maybe move some to the flower room to augment in the final week till I get the LEDs.
Squeak out the lumens till I get par to grow fat bud.
I am building a room completely enclosed. Gonna run a big online fan to vent the light and a smaller cfm to vent the room. Humidity and temp controled. Also going to run CO2.
Lined with cedar on the exterior (the stuff you get tontine closets.
Also, it's in a root cellar with a dry well.
Runs an average of 75 farenheight with the cfls.
I am very concerned about heat.

18" is plenty of height to work with. And the 250w should be fine. Although I wouldnt blast them with 400w of light the last week. All that will do is raise heat which will stress your plants.

If you run 75F with CFL's, you're going to be in quite a shock when you try to run your HPS in there. My cab was 76F with CFL's, and now I struggle very hard to keep it at 85F with a 400w HPS.

Went to the hydro store today. I think I will go with a grow panel pro. 300W LED.
Pricey, but I think I am convinced.
