smaller efficient dehumidifier?

About a week after i started this thread growmau5 interviewed the quest guys on growtube roundtable, they said they are coming out with smaller units soon, also mentioned they have a current product thats a minisplit/dehuey combo and is just over $3K

im sure you can find some wide flat rectangular cardboard boxes. cut em into shallow trays a few inches deep put a 1" layer in each one and make a tower stacking each one alternately.
 
Im going to make a desiccant system. Using silica cat litter. Reusable, cheap, and lower on the wattage use then a big unit. Will post results. Be done Saturday.

I trashed mine after 1 grow but it would have lasted for another round easy. And i had a sheet of tyvek over the bucket and my intake blowing over the top. The pellets will clump up regularly and need to be shaken or broken up somehow. And i wouldn't use cardboard or anything that'll absorb moisture because it can bead up on the sufface.

yeah, i got a pretty good plan set for this project. I will try a few different mediums to find the best DIY results, that can be duplicated for everyone.

A cheap floor model dehumidifier uses 4.2 amps, or about 505 watts, and at .10cents a watt, your looking at $37 a month 24/7 running. Thats alot of power.

Mine will be 15Watts, and will filter the air and hopefully reduce humidity at the same time, and might even add another chamber for odor absorption
 
humm, actually, I can add zeolite into the medium at the same juncture. Its used like carbon, but is reusable. it would be recharged just like the silica, Heat or sun.
 
Still, the plant releases CO2 at night, and adding is reallly not even good for it at night. A good grow has a spike of CO2 over night period, so if your using a CO2 meter, and its higher then outside ambient when you turn your lights on, your grow is healthy as can be. This is why you need a clear out period before lights out. Because its not good for it at night, and it producing CO2 at night, sends it over the " Cant breath" threshold.

Plants will be sitting up high, the burner low, haven't noticed any problems.
