I have 4 flowering pants (3 well into it), and I use one of the Ona blocks in my closet. Works great, no smell outside the closet.
All I did was unscrew the cap, and then rest the cap back on top of the block.
that took a load off my chest

I bought the newer Ona block "Pro". Think I paid about $10 shipped on Ebay. I've had ot for a couple months, all I had to do was scratch the surface of the block once.
Great product. Would recommend to anyone with a smaller room/closet.

What does it smell like?
Also how powerful is the ona smell?

Smells like an industrial type cleaner.
It's very strong, that's why I leave the cap on the block. it's not over powering using this method. I just put the block a foot or so in front of my oscillating fan.

Don't put ona in with your plants, I hear that's not good. Put it outside your exhaust fan.

I hear better things about vaportek disks or even machine. Look it up, haven't used it myself.

You need a carbon filter (or ozone generator) if your growing weed, end of!

If your concerned about noise then get one of these.

Or if you are in the U.S

Ona is a good product but it doesn't neutralise odors like it claims it only masks them.

This is a plant I have vegging in my wardrobe at the moment, it is here until I take it to my grow site that is in another city.
Fem B side.jpg

It only stands 10" above a 9 litre pot.
Fem B 10 inches and stinks.jpg

It can be smelled from my front door (as soon as you walk into the house) and I've had to put a tub of "Ona Gel Pro" at the bottom of my stairs to avoid suspicion, even so my Girlfriend can STILL smell it over the Ona (she has a finicky nose).
The reason I can't smell it but she can is due to something called "Olfactory Fatigue", the science behind this I'll try to explain.

"Have you ever noticed a particular scent upon entering a room, and then not noticed it ten minutes later? This is due to olfactory fatigue. The olfactory sense is unique because it relies on mass, not energy to trigger action potentials. Your ears do not "stop" hearing a sound after a certain period of time, nor do your eyes stop seeing something you may be staring at. This is because both the ears and the eyes rely on energy to trigger them, not mass. In the nose, once a molecule has triggered a response, it must be disposed of and this takes time. If a molecule comes along too quickly, there is no place for it on the olfactory hairs, so it cannot be perceived. To avoid olfactory fatigue, rabbits have flaps of skin that open and close within the nostrils. This allows for short, quick sniffs and lets the rabbit "keep in close odor contact with its environment." When we wish to fully perceive a scent, we humans also smell in quick, short sniffs, often moving the source of the smell in front of one nostril then the other. This behavior also prevents odor fatigue." (Stoddard & Whitfield, 1984)

You can also study this wiki on the subject.

Ever heard the phrase "A pig can't smell it's own shit"? Well now you know where it comes from!

A carbon filter actually filters the offending odor molecules from the air and an ozone generator neutralises them.
NOTHING else will get rid of the smell, it will only mask it!

I knew about olfactory fatigue, it's the same as when you eat something and you start losing your sense of taste for it until you change the food you eat.

Also, i'm glad you told me about that ONA thing. I have to research how to make an ION generator. I'm in a big financial crysis so i can't start spending on anything over 20 bucks, also i live nowhere near the US to order from ebay.

Hey Schtrudel,
Just by accident I purchased a "Nature's Air Purification" unit because of a mold issue in my home - the unit is an O3 (ozone) generator and an Ionization unit. To give you an example of what it can do for smells - - I am a cigarette smoker and my "non-smoker" friends say they can't smell the slightest bit of smoke when they are at my house. Nature's Air has described their unit as a "Thunderstorm-in-a-box" because the air that it purifies smells like the air right after a thunderstorm. This has really been the only thing that I have used that takes care of that "garden smell" - This eliminates the need for "chemical" agents that "mask" the smell instead of "cleaning" it. Added benefit is that it keeps mold from growing (IMPORTANT - the unit should not be in the same room as your crop - higher ozone levels affect the plant negatively - most units cover 1,000 square ft of living area) - Believe it, or not, I am not a salesperson for this company - (maybe I should be) - Good Luck and happy growing. well, i live in a shit country where i CAN'T find anything good to buy that is not 150 euros. I had a small neon transformer but when my mom came to clean my house she threw it. I could've made a diy ozone generator for my grow box exhaust :(

If you want, search the forum for Ona. There's dozens who use it in there grow room. Just, like I said, put he cap on top after you unscrew it.
