Smell Control

I'm trying to get some stuff set up for a small grow. I'm moving into my new apartment in a few weeks and wanna give homegrowing a shot. My main concern is that the smell will draw attention. I don't wanna risk venting the smell outside. Its in the heart of the city with tons of people living nearby. I've done a bit of research and have seen charcoal filter systems with extensive ductwork and such. I don't want to invest in expensive equipment before my first harvest. What are some simple ways I can control the smell for 1-2 plants in a clost grow room.

1-2 plants should be pretty simple to manage, even if they are stinky juicy monsters. there is Ona Gel, my buddy used it and said the results were good. you could get a carbon filter for about $60, but i dont even have one and i grow giant resinmachines under a 1000watt hps. since your grow is so small, id recommend either using ona gel or something really cheap - or nothing at all.

here's a link to ona gel, its $8.95 for a package of the "blocks" - you just put one near your fan or ventilation source, and itll kill odors for 15-30 days. theres 32 essential oils and plant compounds that bond with other odors and nullify them naturally. i guess the description can explain the science behind it better, but it works from what ive heard.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards making an actual box with all the lights and fans neatly contained inside. The other grow boxes I've seen cost a fortune. I have a small apartment so space is crucial. What is the minimum height I should use to be able to flower some nice juicy buds without burning them on the lights?

i dunno about those boxes, i use my bathroom w/ a 1000watt hps. i keep the plants a foot or more away, but since youre prolly gonna use crappy cfl's youre gonna want them like an inch away..dude if you want my advice, i live in an apt too but i do a real grow - even my first grow was with a 1000watt and giants. if you wanna do a small cfl grow then okay, but the weed will be whispy and the high will be mediocre. i highly recommend doing it the real way.
