How close can plants be grown to houses? In the fall when they start to smell, about how far away is it noticible (on average). If you had a 60' backyard and then 20' of trees and brush, and you planted at the edge of that brush, would the smell be noticible if you were in the backyard. tia!

3 Indica females and the same # in a 50/50 indica/sativa.

Potted indoors at 1-2' height.

But how far away can you smell your plants?

I think that should be good. You can probably smell it from the house but people in the house on the road won't smell it

Heh, well it depends on who is doing the smelling. I consider myself to have a good sense of smell, but holey moley, my wife is like a bloodhound! Usually the better the grow, the greater the smell. More bud = more smell

can any others opine?
There are an abundance of other plants that smell close to that of MJ. The smell is only more noticeable to us growers because we're aware of the MJ presence. If this is too much for you to bear, then there are other plants that you may wish to plant around the areas of your MJ.
I'll name a few plants that have a similar scent that you can deterr any suspicious minds.
Catmint~a perennial that has a nice purple all summer bloom.
Russian Sage~ another perennial that will mask the scent.
May Night Salvia~ a perennial that smells close to MJ.

You can plant these perennials elsewhere on your plot to disguise the MJ odor. If anyone asks, lead them to the perennials that promote the odor. Break a leaf off and have them smell it.
Hope this helps!:weed:

If you use plants that are close to the smell of weed, you are INCREASING suspicion. Having that bed of cat mint might look great but if it makes ppl MORE nosey, your weed plants will be noticed.

If you want to conceal, then i would suggest conflicting plants. One of the most aromatic plants I've grown is called Garlic Vine. Fast growing with big prolific flowering and an amazing amount of garlic smell. When it comes to your weed starting to really exude odor, simply cut some of that garlic back....it will become very pungent.

I see your point. But I wouldnt plant the plants near the MJ. I would plant them elsewhere. So if anyone suspects the MJ smell, you can lead them to the odor of other plants.

I grow 12 outdoor plants and before harvest time if there's even a slight breeze I can smell the crop from 250' away.

Yah, i know what you are saying, but in your own post, you are already leading them INTO your yard. I'm sure if it is someone who is FRIENDLY to you, that may work, but if a jackarse walks by....it can only add to his suspicions....it's in their nature.
