Hey everyone! I was thinking about possibly hooking up a cheap battery powered smoke detector inside my grow tent for extra security in the rare case of a fire. has anyone done this before or should there be any reasons why I shouldn't? Thanks!

Shouldn't be an issue. If there's any kind of light on it, I would black it out. Sharpie with the black gorilla tape over it seems to work pretty good.

Honestly I wish more people would do this. There's no such thing as being too safe. Especially since smoke detectors are a dime-a-dozen. There is really no reason not to have one. No one needs to wear a seatbelt until you get in a wreck. As far as light pollution goes, 99.9% Of smoke detectors only blink for 1 millisecond once every minute or so to let you know that batteries are still sufficient. The light given off by a smoke detector won't even come close to harming your plants during their dark cycle. I say do it and I would love to hear any arguments against it.

Thanks for the info guys, I found one on amazon for only 7 bucks so I think the investment is worth it. I haven't seen anyone talk about this so I thought I would just raise the question.
