So I got to thinking,,,,,

roll big fat spleefs to chase them out.,,,,

The Thoughts, man, the Thoughts in my head.

So I've got 4 weeks left and the colas are getting fat. Sticky, crystal covered, just about dripping. Now if ya want an idea of the smell at this stage. Well, go find a skunk, piss it off and catch a load full on. The stank is staying on my clothes longer than I like. Thinking I might need a tyveck suit. Have to be careful when going to the store or mingling with others. I've caught the "look" once or twice already.

Enjoy the week.

my name is boomerb,
and yours ain't.

peace and quite from the noises in my head for about three months

4 weeks left eh? Nice Boomer, very nice. I think I am going to go ahead and go DWC this next run. I just picked up some DJ Short Blue Berry (2), and a Blue Cheese clone yesterday. Those 3 will be turned into moms for later on. I also have a 10 pack of Jilly Bean seeds on the way, which is why the other clones will be turned into mother's.

Figure I'll cut clones a few days or so after seeds crack (I'm using a bubble cloner) that way the seeds will have a chance to grow a bit while the clones root.

My question for you Boomer, is do you have any advice for someone looking to jump into DWC? I think I will be going the DIY route of course. I already have a few pumps, plenty of tubing, and a couple rubbermaid totes lying around. I need more air stones, and some net pots for sure though.

Appreciate any help you can give, sure looks like you have an idea of what you are doing.

Get the Igloo 120 quart cooler and use 2 inch styrofoam insulation on the top. Tape it with reflective tape to keep the light out. 4-6 inches of overhang all the way around. Lots of air stones. Cut the net pot holes after you tape.

Light out, air in.

Wish someone would tell Red that. You know, about that "good idea" thingy ma bob in my head. She rarely listens to me these days.

Thank you Boomer,

I never thought of creating my own lid. That is actually pretty cool. I imagine the cooler is a lot sturdier than than a rubbermaid tub, but I am trying to use some of what I already have lying around. I am a caregiver for a few medical patients, and the $$ for the equipment comes from them..so I try not to buy anything if I don't have to (I know they are cheap, but I'm cheaper lmao). Indeed going to keep those coolers in mind in the future though.

Another question, do you bother with either/or PPM/EC?

tri-meter,,,, ph,ppm,temp

veg
5.8---450-550-----67

flower
5.8----550-650---67

cheap ain't in my toolbox,,,,,,,

54.00 for the cooler and never a heat or light issue again.

Believe me, if I actually had the money to drop into a system I would do it in a heart beat. I am working with other people's money here so I have to be as gentle as possible.

I can handle the heat/light issues just fine. I have an aquarium chiller to deal with res temps. I can just get some black spray paint for the tubs..you know..that kind that is designed to bond to plastic. :joint:

So you don't bother with EC. If I am not mistaken...are your PPM levels a little low compared to what most people try to run? I have seen people talk about going to 1200 (maybe a lil lower) PPM in flower.

Is that because of the nutes you are using or something?

This strain of girls have told us over the years what ppm they like and don't like. It's kind of like overfeeding kids. They get lazy and develop health issues. Keep em mean and lean.

The "less is more" concept. Got ya. :joint:

I have been doing some reading and the nute line I am using cannot be used in DWC. :o But can use them in a drip system.

So it looks like that is the route I will be going. However, just to show the patients I am working with what DWC is capable of, I may build a single 5 gal bucket DWC as a side by side comparison.

Should be fun no?

hey bb57 just dropped in 2 say i really enjoyed your thread i too snipe all kinds of stuff around the place [i have a 177 gamo] & yeah i insist on a kicker on my boat as well dont do much saltwater stuff but no matter where your at a kicker can save your ass i imagine having the mexican navy on board really sucked

Day one with the Babies under 600 watts..........

5.8 ph, 350 ppm 67 degrees in the water, 70 degrees in the room,,,,,,,

Nice to finish this room. Had electrical problems and had to run another line from the box to handle the load.

my name is boomerb,
my babies are happy with me,,,,

Light is a bit high but it's the first day under the 600. I'll lower em down step at a time

Ok,

So I got to rummaging through the drawers and here is what I found. Expensive crappola that just complicates matters.

Some things are best left to the KISS method and the Less is More lesson.

I'm 3 weeks from harvest and I love this timeframe with the girls. Their drinking like sailors on a 72 hour pass, getting fat like the christmas goose.

I'll snap some pics later today,,,,,,

Roadkill.

Yeppir. I swear it was the most radical fertilizer I have ever used. Every two weeks I'd bust out the pellet rifle and make a sweep of the power lines and drop twenty or thirty of them little nuthatches or finches or whatever the hell they are and I'd bury them 2 feet down next to the plant. Possums stood no chance against the mighty Beeman RS2 in .22 cal. in this ol' Grunts hands.

Man, screw the embalming, when I go out plant my ass in a SOG! My outside grows were phenom and I give all the credit to them little critters.

Appeased Red with a little of the V-day trappings. She woke up this morning to a bacon panenkoeken. I included a pic or two. Try one of these bad boys and you'll throw Bisquick out the window. After b-fast I handed her the obligatory card and then completely out of character I gave her some roses. Red reads the card, looks at the roses and says to me,,,,,

"What'd you do now" and "How much did it cost",,,,,,,,,,,,,

Did I really need a new kicker motor for the boat? Yeah, I do. Nothing like being 100 miles offshore and the main diesel goes out on ya.. Been there, met the Mexican Navy and did not enjoy the encounter one bit. Coasties had to intervene to get the bastards off my boat. But thats another story,,,,,,,

Didn't take fresh pics of the panenkoeken today but these two pics were recent,,,,

My wife & I were wondering if we could get the recipe to the panenkoeken??? We tried to google it, but all we got were flat pancake things... They look nothing like what you have here.

Oh man I love these things! We do 2 to 4 a week. Bacon, Berries, Plain.
Nah, we never eat em' plain. And don't ferget the Maple Syrup!

10 inch Cast Iron Skillet is the most important part of this recipe. 2nd is Room Temperature Ingredients. 3rd is Sift that BREAD flour 3 times!

My all time favorite is a Bacon Panenkoeken. Pepper Bacon! Red fries up a pound of thick cut and peppers it in the pan.

Hit the bong a coupla times,,,,

While she does the bacon I preheat the oven and with the skillet inside. The batter has to be creamy smooth. Try this recipe a couple of times and you should get the hang of it. This is one of my favorite "Go to" or "comfort" meals.

Watch em rise in the oven! Oh, one more thing, middle rack in the oven, I've had em rise 8 to 10 inches..

Makes 4 to 6 servings:

6 eggs, room temperature
1 cup milk, room temperature
1 cup sifted bread flour or all-purpose flour*
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
5 tablespoons butter
Freshly squeezed lemon juice
Powdered or confectioners sugar

*Bread flour is a high-protein flour. The high protein helps the pancake rise. All-purpose flour may be substituted but the results won't be as spectacular.

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. NOTE: It is very important that you preheat your oven. Place oven rack on the middle rack of your oven. Place a large, heavy ovenproof frying pan or a cast-iron skillet (I like to use my 10-inch cast-iron skillet), in the oven until hot and sizzling. While pan is heating, prepare your batter.

NOTE: Use a shallow pan, not more than 3 inches deep (pie pans, cast-iron skillets, oven-proof fry pans, baking dishes, paella pans). Like I said before, I prefer using a cast-iron skillet or pan because it acts as a heat reservoir, retaining the heat and distributing it evenly.

Have a one hit,,,

2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until light and frothy; add milk, flour, vanilla extract, and cinnamon; beat for 5 minutes more. The batter will be thin, but very smooth and creamy.

Two more hits,,,

Using a pot holder, remove the hot skillet from the oven; add the butter; tilting the pan to melt the butter and coat the skillet.

3. Pour the prepared batter into the hot skillet, all at once, add your fried, cut into 1/2 inch pieces Bacon or Berries and immediately return the skillet to the oven.

4. Bake approximately 20 to 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown (bake until the pancake puffs up around the edges - it may puff irregularly in the center). And get yerself baked in preparation for a feast,,,,,,

5. Remove from oven and serve immediately. Either bring the pancake to the table in its pan or slide it onto a serving plate. Once out of the oven, the pancake will begin to deflate.

6. To serve, cut into serving-size wedges and transfer to individual serving plates. Top with your favorite topping and serve immediately. For a classic German Pancake/Dutch Baby, sprinkle with freshly squeezed lemon juice, and dust the top with powdered sugar.

Topping Ideas:
Sifted powdered (confectioners) sugar
Fresh applesauce with a dash of cinnamon
Crushed pineapple, drained
Whipped cream and sliced fresh strawberries
Syrups (maple, your favorite fruit syrup, or honey)
Canned pie filling, cold or warm

Enjoy!
