So I made a reflector out of Roofing Coil. *pics*

Buddy had some coil left over and I decided to take a cut from it. I have never formed metal before so I know it looks like the backside of an aids infested tranny lol

No but really this seems to be a great material for a reflector. It's thin and kinda flimsy but stout enough. The white inside coating isn't very white anymore so I'm going to slap a coat or two of wall paint on it.

I still have to rig my lights inside somehow. Feel free to add suggestions as to how I should go about this pln to use cfls and regular wire sockets so I'm kinda stumped.

Nicely done!

Take a look at my gallery and journal - I've got 2 150W HPS counterweight balanced aircooled hoods that I built.

The seams are sealed with aluminum foil tape - easy, yet strong enough.

I was at home depot the otherday in the ductwork section, and saw a metal bending jig - it was like a foot long and helped make long, straight bends. It was like 12 bucks...

That jig and a pair of snips is about all you need.

And careful planning....

I have it all done now. Pics coming tomorrow or the next. It looks ghetto but it will serve its purpose even more than I had originally thought. I do need better bulbs and that will come later.

I feel like an idiot because I don't know how to find your gallery lol

Sure - see attached. Each was made from a 12 x 12in square of 22 ga. sheet metal. I picked them up at my local hardware store for a buck a piece I think. Attached to a piece of scrap wood w/ screws. I hot glued the hose on, then foamed it into place. The foam is pretty adhesive, and cures pretty rigid.

Each hood is counterbalanced with a weight and hung from the top with eye screws and nylon cord. Each hood can be smoothly placed at any height

Those are just regular lamp sockets - they have the wires attached already. I just attached them to blocks of wood to get them mounted horizontal. I think I used cable ties.
