how far away should I keep my 1000 watt MH light away from my plants before i was keeping the fluorescents 5-6 inchs, I don't want to burn them let me know thanks

Put it at the top and let the plant's fill the space don't chase it or make your plant's cower and stunt them!!!!!see the proof..comfortable grow easy 155,000 lumen's xxl hood even canopy (Well so so) and big yield comming! never had a problem grow I avoid the common problem's too much light too much nutes too much water.typo on pic obviously 1000 watt sylvania blue plus HO..View attachment 2215416View attachment 2215418View attachment 2215419View attachment 2215420

Well I've got a few plants at 8-9" then others only 1-3"

Right now I think it's around 8" away, do I have a risk of burning them with this type of lighting? even thought its a 1000 watt would it?

Thats to many lumen's the plant's will shit a brick with that over head not necessary move it up 3 feet and wait two day's you will see the leaves reaching for the light and using it properly! plant's stunt and cower from too much light i.e.too close....look at comercial grow's they don't fuck with the light's other than replacing old lamp's there at the top for max height and yield not because they are lazy...my plants grow problem free due to not rushing them trying to get it done in 105 day's start to finish...i'm more like they say 2 week's to root clone's I give then a month and pinch the first root's that show...consoladating the root ball which is what controlls amount of flower's!! slow and steady no problem's no deduction's from yield or quality! # deadly sin's of growing 1. too much light too close causes cowering and stunt's growth.....2. too much water plant's like there feet dry..when watering water until run's steady out the bottom to bring needed oxygen to the root's....3. too much nutes....don't burn use 1/2 strength and add more if necessary! Listen to people don't necessaraly do it..but listen with open mind...and make your own decision's....Good luck my friend wishing the best for your plant's...jack

Ryan if you can post pic's I'd like to watch your grow! I'm sure you will impress us and watching new blood remind's us of our insecurities when we started! I don't mean that as it sound's but we all forget how we learned.....and we never should!

for sure pics coming tonight, and yeah I raised them up to about 18 inchs above the light since the MH is producing a shit ton of heat, is it really worth it? I am going to get a duct system tomorrow, then looking into a fan to suck most of the heat out, not to mention I have a AC running 24/7

I'm not here to talk bs, but the sun puts out way more light then a 1000w, and my plants love the sun full blasted, so why lose the lumens, putting the grow light 3 feet high? You're losings light output you paid for?

So what do you think is a good distance? I noticed I burned a few leaves yesterday keeping it too close 6inches but I moved it way up not 3 feet but half that.

I also noticed it was drying the shit out of the dirt and I was watering 3 times a day, moving it up seems to not dry it up as much, but I'm running a ac 24/7 at 64 degrees and I can only seem to get it down to 70-72 plus it's a few more degrees higher in the room there in, I'm wondering if I should move them from the closest (walkin) to the full size room? they are in the mini pots that go inside a dome, what height should I transfer them to the 5 gallon buckets? I also have 4 other ones that are in a thing that is suppose to grow through after you plant it.

That's a good thing. It means your plant are taking the light and loving it.You can tell by the look of the plants, if they liked it or not.

You can always use the back of your hand to see how hot it gets from the top plants from the bulb, if your back hand won't get burned from the bulb, then you plants will be good.

Well that's me

Alright I moved it to a good spot, and I also transferred the 4 that were 10" to the 5 gallon buckets, its 2 per pot on these as the person grew them like this I never would, so one might die or both.
