So I just bought a truck for 5k (2002 TOYOTA tacoma 2wd single cab). Well actually I checked out the truck 10 days ago, and I told him I was interested in buying the truck. And by the way, I totally trusted the guy. I still do, he took me to his house, showed me his business, etc. Anyways he told me that his brother was coming in and so he'll need the truck for another 10 days. So since the demands for Tacomas are very high where I live, the deal was great for a 02 Tacoma 113k miles for 5k. So I agreed to wait ten days since I didn't really need it yet anyways, but he told me he needed a deposit at half the price (2500$). I gave it to him. 9 days later I called him to make sure we were still on for the next day for me to give him 2500$ and he give me the title and truck. He answered and in fact told me how I can come pick it up that day instead of the next. So I did. And everything was great, we even had a great talk and got real personal with each other and I really dig the guy's vibe and attitude. So I got the title, and the truck is great, but in the middle of my drive I noticed that the mile gauge thingy is up by 20 thousand miles. So on the advertisement for the truck he was selling it with 113k miles, and now it has 132k miles. And I'm just thinking how the hell he put 20k miles in 10 days (200 miles a day ish). The guy is real nice, and I have to see him again before everything is clear. Should I give him a call now? How should I confront him? What should I demand? I mean I might have reconsidered the trucks value if there was another 20k miles on it. Any advice other than involving violence is very welcome and appreciated. MAHALO

fuck it, it's a Toyota, lol

That sucks though, I would definitely call and maybe renegotiate the deal and get some money back, I can see a couple of hundred but a years worth? No way.

Nobody else has any advice for me? I was really counting on a few people to give me good suggestions. Plus rep for a thoughtful response. Mahalo

I wouldnt worry about it. You should of checked it before you left his house. Sumtimes people just make mistakes or just care free and what is a big deal to you might not be to them. I would mention it to him and see what he has to say about it. if you like the guy 20000 miles isnt worth getting into a confrontation.

I'd bring it up. Negotiate a new deal. It sounds to me like he did that on purpose, and expected you not to say anything. So you can probably get a few hundred back, tell him you would have reconsidered the deal if it had 20K more, like you said.
