I wish, dude, the stupid thing is submerged in water. It actually has the LED's surrounding the ultrasonic humidifying point...Once I get these stupid gnats taken care of I might think about getting some white silicone caulking and covering the LED's, but one thing at a time. I've never had to deal with pests either, I've always grown outdoors and been lucky on that one. I'm about to go to sears or home depot right now and get some flypaper/sticky tape. Like I said, It's not a problem yet, I just don't want it to become one. I'm eager to see my girls, they wake up in like 40 minutes. I work evenings so I have lights off 6 AM to 6 PM. As a matter of fact, I'm about to go shopping for that shit right now, I'll post again in like an hour when I get home.

So after a trip to the hardware store, I picked up another timer for my veg box and got a thermometer/hygrometer for 8 bucks. My humidity was low, so I rigged up a little humidifier to run with the lights (since it has bright LEDs on it, stupid design) While i was fiddling around with my grow I noticed some fungus gnats flitting around, fucking cheap dispensary clones. I checked up on the babies in the veg box which i sprouted myself, and not a sign of the little buggers. So I'm gonna let the Laverne and Shirley (the clones) dry out a little bit, and maybe i'll try adding a couple drops of dish soap to the water next time they drink. Gonna go get some sticky traps and try the soap, and hopefully nip this in the bud (no pun intended) before it turns into a problem. It's only a few gnats now, but wouldn't want it to turn into a problem, so if the soap and sticky traps don't work, i'm moving up to mosquito dunks, i guess. Any ideas?
i had that problem from useing scotts premium soil (my ass) i tried the sticky tape, soap. letting them dry out and nothing would get rid of those little effers. i ened up getting some foxfarm ocean forest and transplanting my babies. i rinsed the roots off an all with rain water and then put them in the yummy stuff. i left the fly traps hanging for a few more days just to catch the straglers and now they are completely gone. yay. hope this helps.

i was thinkin maybe if u just lay a strip of duct tape or something out and sprinkle some sugar on it..maybe itll attract them and theyll get stuck.

Hey bro checking out your thread.

Do not put sugar there hehe don't attract them. Watch for spider mites they are hard to see they are on the bottom of the leaves leave small webs when they are there for awhile I had a problem this go around with them. Those sticky traps work well for most everything else. If you get a small case of spider mites can use water mixed with little bit of dish soap and spray bottoms of leaves(make sure turn lights off for a few hours afterwards) If you get a bad infestation then use Azatrol or Azamax. Good Luck.

I got neem oil and yellow sticky traps, I sprayed the soil good and some of the bottom foliage, and grinned with delite as I ceased to see any movement other than my girls waving to me in the breeze. I laid the sticky traps to see if they're still there, cause I'm at work most of the day/evening, but on first appearances it looks good. No spider mites, this is strictly fungus gnats, and we'll see tomorrow if neem oil is the shit or what.

If it doesn't work try Azamax or Azatrol their like a nuke for spider mites can spray on foliage and drench soil with it I use it every 3-4 weeks whether I see mites or not.

Good Luck though neem oil works well Azamax is made with killer stuff extracted from neem oil and few other botanical presticide stuff.

Yeah, I was just googling and read that Azamax is derived from the pesticide qualities of neem, they both contain the active ingredient Azadirachtin, so I think the neem is pretty much the same stuff as Azamax. I sprayed the soil down good, cant see anything moving, layed out the sticky traps on the soil and I think we'll probably be good. I did some reading around and saw you can soil drench with azamax, so after another day or 2 (letting them dry a bit) i'm gonna drench with the neem oil I got. Do you dilute the azamax? The percentage of neem solution I got was 0.9, and I'm thinking I might do a 50% mix with water for the drench, any ideas? And again, no spider mites here, I have fungus gnats, but I'm pretty sure the neem oil will control that, soon as I do the soil drench, I feel good about it.

Yeah I purchased I beleive is 4 ounces of Azamax. I use 5 ml on the first foliage spray and 10ml on soil drench. Google Image a pic of the bottle has a measuring thing on it you squeeze solution into for easy mix. Then I use 7ml on next foliage spray(I read mites can build a somewhat tolerance to it so don't use same doses(I stayed with 7ml though and have been good but start with 5ml)

It's amazing stuff for real but its not cheap. $20.00 for 4 ounces at hydro shop. I had pretty bad infestation though clones I got were already infested. Also this stuff is by far the least harmful stuff(THAT WORKS LIKE A BOMB LOL) that I've used on my plants. I never saw any signs of slowing or stress. I also used a DrDoom Fogger as well but if you don't have a huge infestation don't go that far. Azamax or Azatrol will handle it all. I use azamax but heard azatrol is the same thing some people prefer it better, me I bought what was in stock at the time.

Good luck bro Go kill some MITES!

Oh another note. Azamax when mixed with water is no good after 24 hours after mixing so only mix small amount your going to use.

oh LOL my bad I'm baked. I did read that you had gnats.Either way Azamax kills about everything in the garden besides your plants. Neem Oil I'm sure works well too.

We'll see, I hear it takes a while, gotta interrupt the little buggers life cycle, but I have high hopes. I might go back to the hardware store and grab some mosquito dunks, but we'll see in like a week if this stuff works or not.

Well one of my sprouts didnt make it. Gertrude is continuously improving, I dont know if I fim'd "her" too early or not but there are two new tops coming in and alot of new side growth, so I went ahead and bent her down a little more. She seems to be taking to the 1/4 strength nutes pretty well. I'm going to attempt to train her around edge of the container. I put the lights on the timer and set it for 20/4, where I had been running the lights 24 hrs. I think i'll veg them all like this. C.C ain't doing much so far but her couple of leaves are a very dark green color. My girlfriend named the remaining sprout "Natalie"...hope she dont turn into Nate. Maybe, just maybe, out of these 3 I'll luck into a female. I'll throw a few pics up in the next day or two.

Sorry to hear about the sprout, but thats growing, right? As for training around the edge of the pot, I hate you! I was gonna LST one of my seedlings like that and devote a thread to it! Haha, now I don't wanna be a copycat, but I'm DEFINATELY interested to see how that works out. Glad to hear you got a timer and set them to 20/4, thats what mine are on right now. Keep up the good work, post the pics soon!
