Everyone jokes about it but we can all be wiped out at any given moment. I'm not saying I totally believe the 2012 crap but I wouldnt be surprised. So many things can happen, and you know damn well that IF the government knows anything they won't say shit. I'm mostly worried about asteroids because there are a shit ton of them out there and we keep getting lucky but it's happened before. If recall correctly the earth has been hit with a catastrophic asteroid 4 or 5 times.

Haven't you seen the majority of low budget disaster movies on si-fi? (now syfi? syfy? the freaking science fiction type channel on tv with all the star trek) blowing shit up is our go-to cure all for any problem! Be it mutated lizards, asteroids, or just those pesky people with different beliefs!

I remember it well. I was at a friends house and as they were counting down for the new year and I went out to the garage and as soon as they hit 1, I turned off all the power.
