So what kind of "evidence" does it take...

I've always wondered exactly what kind of "evidence" it takes to bring the cops (local or federal) to your door?

I know MOST people who get busted are ratted out by an actual person who knew/suspected/smelled something and informed the police.

But what about being seen buying a lot of hydro equipment or having it on your credit card?

Buying seeds?

How closely do they really monitor people's credit cards and/or the mail to/from addresses of seed banks and major Hydro suppliers? Does this monitoring happen all the time, or only after you have landed yourself on a "watch list" in some other way?

What does it take to land people on a watch list, where their credit cards are watched, their e-mail read, etc?

If you never tell anyone you grow (or maybe even smoke) weed, how paranoid do you really have to be?

Do they really care about the "little guys" who just grow for personal use, or will they only go after those people if they have nothing better to do and/or if they are really careless?

What does it take to get a warrant to search your house?

Just curious if anybody knows anything about law enforcement... :wall:

Simply put, most people that I have ever known have been busted because they were ratted out by someone they knew. The neighbors, a girlfriend a pissed off friend etc. That's why you should take every precaution to avoid anyone ever knowing.

If you are constantly buying from the same store and in large amounts, it could raise suspicion. But think about it. How many people are growing stuff at their house that isn't illegal. Fruits, vegetables, flowers etc.

They obviously could care less about someone ordering seeds, seeing as how if your seeds get caught in customs, they destroy them and you get a letter, not a knock on the door.

If you're worried about credit card use, get a pre-paid from Walmart.

If you're on a "watch list" or you have some kind of indictment, you are either an extremely large grower, or seller that pretty much has been watched for awhile OR you know and deal with people like that. It's alot easier to catch a big fish with bait.

All that has to happen for you to have a warrant issued is for police to have probable enough cause and evidence (word of the witness) to go to the D.A. with. Once the D.A. gives his/her go ahead, then any judge can/will sign off on it. Next thing you know... knock knock.

People also get busted because a cop will go to the door for something stupid, like loud music, a domestic dispute, etc. and the dumbass person let's them in their house.

I know you're saying ok, well how do you know. Well, I've had my fill with run-ins with the law. Between 16 and 20, I learned a lot about how police can work. Now that I'm on the other side (military) I am trusted by a lot of civilians with jobs involving this line of work. They tell me all sorts of stuff that is pretty handy to keep me out of trouble. I'm not growing or anything right now, by the way, but you bet your ass that when I get out and start growing, I'll have a lot of good info to keep my ass outta trouble.

I'm also curious about this.

What I am most curious about is...couldn't the feds just track all of our IP's off RIU and find all our homes and say that our posts on RIU are probably cause?

They would have to get permissions to access the server, which is based in Canada, so long story short that's just not going to happen.

Thanks Louis, that's the one thing that was kind of bothering me. I'm sure they could if they wanted to, but there's certainly not enough probably cause and most of the ppl who post grows on here are med. patients anyways...i think

Not to mention that if you are on any kind of wireless server... (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T) Their IP addresses are based out of major locations, not just your area. Like my IP addy says I'm somewhere near Flint Michigan and I'm about 14 hours south of that, lol. No need to worry there.

Thanks for the info.

Not a single soul knows or even suspects whether I grow or not, unless they get suspicious from my presence here and can track it back to me IRL (and I've never posted any pictures because of security concerns). Only one other person in the world even knows I occasionally get high, so I can't imagine anybody tattling on me unless they track me home from here somehow?

I did not even know they made pre-paid credit cards...but now that I do, I'll definitely check into that! :-P
