Just like the title says, are you really down to take arms against your own oppressive government, or even your neighbors, family, friends?

Conservatives i know are down and ready, but i feel like they would eventually be excluded and beat from the revolution as a whole because of their extremist views.

liberals, eh, i would say are scared, probably try and take the peaceful route to reform which we all know is bull shit. Obama would love to mow down anyone that would disrupt his liberal agenda, even his liberal followers.

we can learn from other revolutions, some are peaceful, some end up taking arms, imagine if this really happened here in the United States. We are over due for one, its been brewing for years, it just takes a spark for it to begin!

is it even possible for any revolution here in the states.

would it be armed,, why or why not?

Dont attack me, im just curious on other people thoughts on the matter,
i may sound like a liberal, or communist or socialist and at times i may even sound like a conservative, but trust me, im non of those!bim just someone that will be ready when it happens.

Stereotypical nonsense. I'm sort of a bleeding heart when it comes to certain issues. I'll still be the first guy to shoot you in the fucking chest, if the proverbial shit hits the fan...

Armed revolution in the U.S. would be fucking stupid as long as we have the freedom to vote and the means to defend ourselves from violent criminal shitbags.

You want to change shit, do it at the ballot box.

conservative, dead head, pot smoker here and I love trees. even the conservative radio I listen to has commercials for investing in the medical mj movement. just because channel 2 or CNN says we have extremist views does not mean it is true. in fact most all people conservatives and liberals just want to be happy and live a good life. and regardless of how hard the media tries to divide the people as a whole we are all neighbors at the end of the day. the media attempts to divide the people and make serious issues out of things most people do not spend any time thinking about. a divided nation is one that is ineffective as ours is these days.

there will never be any good outcome of any revolution if it is the people fighting each other. we have a president who quotes Carl Marx that is the sort of shit that should be talked about on the news.

You came off pretty bright, until you decided to actually take a stance on something. That something, "standard-marxism refference #3", is tired and weak.

I think there should be an information revolution; a revolution against the elites and their opression.

We dont need to fight anyone, we just need to expose the elites to the masses.

A peaceful revolution against the elites.

fallacious neolibthink..."if everyone only KNEW what was going on..."
sad fact is a lot of people know and don't care, some don't know and don't care, and most are under the impression they have no power to change things anyway. While i agree that education is a good way to go about addressing issues of political relevance, to think that just "exposing information" would engender change of its own sheer force is naive at best.

This is America. Not to many revolutions have been led from behind a Rascal scooter historically speaking, so I'm not too worried about our odds of armed revolt. Seriously at this rate Americans will be too fat to do anything besides complain anonymously online in another decade.

Yeah, its too bad the elites own the mainstream media, because that would be a good way to expose the elites.

You actually made sense. Ideas are what they are afraid of. People that inititate aggression and create systems that follow that course are the present paradigm. Replacing the present players within the same paradigm is ineffective. Einstein had a saying about that. When there is an idea driven awareness there will be a paradigm shift. Until then there will simply be new masters.

ok i wont attack lol...
i've got no party affiliation with the exception that i am a soldier, and as a soldier my first thought is no one here has any clue what time it is, and its not yet time for war...
if you or anyone else here was worthy of war/revolution they would have already exhausted all other possibilities and such hasnt even begun...
those leading what you might call the dissent are bought and paid for lol ie repubs, dems, 'marijuana legalization/regulation' etc so there currently is no real dissent...
so as stated before, 'we' arent even close to being worthy of 'armed revolt'...do something real so you can earn your right to use weapons...doing something real usually involves a pen (=sword) and a fed court (=battle field)etc...

That's a good question. Ultimately any government that uses coercion as a basis will morph back to a mega controlling government. Then the question becomes, why repeat the same mistake over and over? For freedom to exist, there must be more than rearranging the furniture and replacing the drapes.

before one commits to a battle of any kind, it would be practical for one to know exactly what they are fighting for...
the op implies oppression exists (enough to warrant war) = loss of human rights...
has anyone here filed a fed case concerning the restoration of said human rights?
do you even know yourself well enough to know what your human rights are?
know yourself first...then exhaust all possibilities in effort to reaffirm your human rights through non violent means...
none of that has been done or is being done...
