Unfortunately I think they cause noobs way more problems than good. They are just starting to grow, and for most the very first plant they have ever grown. So now they not only need to learn how to read a plant they need to learn how to tend to a meter too. The plant ends up being their main focus while neglecting the meter. Plant has its first problem and the new growers goes right to the meter. Readings that are most likely out of wack because of improper calibration/storing methods. But hey the meter wouldnt lie so I gotta do this or that. Then they start trying to adjust things that they have no clue of how the process' actually work. The snowball has been sent over the edge and things only compound from there. When all along their plants have never lied too them. And with a bit of understanding of the very basics. The entire problem could have most likely been 'nipped in the bud'.

There is ZERO question in mind that this dosent play out on a very regular bases. It probably covers close to 75%(IMO)of the problems presented by new growers on this very site...

calcium can form insoluble bonds with another macro/micro nutrient that of course cant remember or form a google search to find . . . . . it should not be in a A.B, style base .. imo . . but i could be wrong just what i think
 
Just got my Peters order in - Blossom Booster and Citrus FeED. FWIW, I think I found the Holy Grail for a complete, start to finish fertilizer. It's Jack's Classic Peters Citrus FeeD, a new 20-10-20 product. Compared to their popular Blossom Booster it has more Mg, 1% versus .50%; more Fe which is tripled chelated (EDTA, EDDHA, DTPA) to take into account any kind of soil chemistry, .15% versus .10%; 4.9% sulfur where the Blossom Booster has none, and more of an acidifying affect. 11 elements in all which I could recommend for coco and perhaps soil-less too. Caveat - more does not necessarily mean better. It's all about the balance. For example, this 20-10-20 will produce more yield versus someone hitting their plants with a low N, high K or P food.

Soil growers should check it out. What that formula suggests (based on my knowledge of cannabis nutrition and soil chemistry) is a greener plant (think Fe, S, Mg) with less stretch (low P) and an excellent NPK balance to support foliage, roots, and flowers.....a perfect one shot nutrition solution. No Weight Watchers program for this bendejo!

The N profile is 2% ammoniacal N, 3% nitrate N, 15% urea, which adds up to an acidifying affect.

I would like to take a moment to just say Thank You! I read the thread from start to finish and it sounds like a whole hell of a lot of people being asses when your just trying to shed some light on some of us who would be either ignorant or too naive to realize we are getting swindled for our hard earned dollars. I work for a collective and everyone who grows there uses advanced or botanicare and they really pump the ppm's as high as they can. I on the other hand like to keep my own little garden as organic as possible. I have grown an OG Kush from start to finish with just ffof and zero added nutrients. My yield was moderate but the flavor was phenominal.

Thank you for everything you do and I hope that I can continue to learn from you. Please don't give up posting on behalf of the asshats!

What Nutrient's are you using?
Roots Organics Big buddah grow, Big budda Bloom, Ancient amber, Trinity, Extreme serene, hp2, hpk, Oregonism xl, molasses, Botanicare cal mag(calcium nitrate, magnesium nitrate, iron EDTA) for my R/O water

How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
I have only done 2 feedings. The last feeding consisted of this.

Hello to everyone here. I've been lurking in these threads for quite a while(just reading and learning). To Uncle Ben.....a few questions if I may. Do you still use the Jacks Classic line or have you moved to another? Also....are you mostly outdoor as opposed to indoor and what has been the best yield on a 3-4 ft plant that you've had?(asking cuz that height is what I'm restricted to) Thanks to everyone that has given valuable knowledge. Yes, I use the Jack's line and just got in what should be an excellent food - Peters Classic Citrus FeED, a 20-10-20. I only grow outdoors now.

Then you did NOT have a pure sativa. You grew out a mutt which is to be expected. Grow out TFD's O. Haze and then you might have some credibility around here.

Teacher (that be me) has a question - what is the genetic makeup of the original Haze from Santa Cruz?
