So you're gay. Why and whose fault.

Seems a lot of people don't understand. So I'll explain it best my stoner mind can.

Let's start off with some definitions.

You have gender, sex and sexuality.

Gender is the role you play, male or female. It is the outward appearance you give.

Sex is the genetic factor. Usually XX or XY chromosomes.

Sexuality is usually which gender role you attach your emotions towards. It can be physical, or may not be.

The default state sexual orientation is a male and a female gender join for the goal of procreation. This is human heterosexuality.

But, you can deviate from this default state and is caused by numerous factors. The state this forum seems so hung up upon is homosexuality. This is a non-reproductive relationship. It's a deviation, and that's it. It has several causes and I'll try to get into those.

The causes are: chromosomal, brain structure, hormonal and choice.

Chromosomal:

X0 Syndrome (Turner Syndrome)

Have the gender appearance of a woman. To the best of my knowledge are only attracted to men. Cannot reproduce.

XXX/XXXX (metafemale syndrome)

Have the gender appearance of a woman and can usually reproduce. These women are also called super-females. So these women can be attracted to other women.

XXY( Klinefelter's syndrome)

Usually infertile male gender appearance. They show more female characteristics. When these men are gay, they appear as super feminine, high voice and slightly over weight. There's no evidence these men become gay more than average.

XXY (super-male syndrome)

Usually male gender role appearance who are usually fertile. These men tend to produce more testosterone, are below average intelligence, aggressive and homosexual.

XY(AIS)

Usually female gender role appearance and infertile. These women would've developed into a normal man, but for some reason during the sexual phase of development in the womb had an androgen insensitivity syndrome. All humans are born being female and develop into male because of androgen. These women, other than XY chromosomes, are exactly like their infertile XX infertile counterparts by outward appearance. They have a vagina, breast development, and wider hips.

Brain structure

Some men or women's brain develop more male or female structures. These people tend to become homosexual more than average. Other than their brain functions, they tend to be normal. Very little is known about this cause.

Choice

One of the most controversial reasons. You just want to be gay for some reason. Not much is known about this cause. Some think it may be environmental experiences and/or a combination of any of the other reasons I mentioned above.

Words (in languages other than English) have genders, e.g le boeuf or das Schiff. English, of course, as genderless articles like a and the. (Pronouns seem to be the sole gendered words in modern English.) I lament the postmodern co-optation of gender to describe a property of actual living things, esp. humans. We have sexes.

For your use of gender, I propose sexual identity. This covers who we are andor think we are. Thus a person can be physically male but psychically identify [her]self as a woman. cn

Nope; never heard of those. Imo Oxford sold out in that instance. I'd think it would be valuable to maintain a purely linguistic (grammatical) term. Never mind me; I'm an old curmudgeon shaking my cane at all the young whippersnappers. cn

Found this an interesting read. I always wondered about my sexuality and people pointing out differences in my taste as opposed to bring a straight female or male looking at prospective straight make or female partners.. Some people will find it offensive I'm sure, but is seems akin to a cut and dry medical explanation of bring transgender as a condition rather than you just wanting to play dress up. Hmm.
