SOG with soil - NEED HELP

ok so tell what you guys think..

4 weeks VEG:
-take/root clones (2 weeks) T5s CFLs
-transplant/veg clones under LED panel (2weeks)

4 weeks FLOWER:
-move to 400watt MH 7200k, **take/root more clones now? (2 weeks) You will want to take the clones within 21 days of the start of flowering, otherwise you'll have to revert the clones to veg(which is fine to do but in this situation its not the best choice. if you want to take the clones right when you flip go ahead.
-continue flowering but change bulb to 3200k, transplant new clones to LED (2 weeks) sounds fine.


4 weeks FLOWER:
-move to 1000watt HPS on light mover, move new clones to 400watt 7200k (2 weeks)
-finish last 2 weeks of flower, change 400watt bulb to 3200k for new clones
-harvest
this all sounds right on
and so on with the new clones


MY QUESTIONS:

- when would the best time be to transplant to bigger pots to maximize space under the 1000watt HPS with light mover??

i can only fit so many under the LED panel so i figured once rooted out of the humidity dome i could :

OPTIONS
-1- transplant to alot of dixie cups (id have to figure out how many can fit)
-2- transplant to 4" rockwool cubes (36 4"x4"x4".. **not sure how id water tho)
-3-transplant to the 4L water jugs (16 jugs at 6"x4.5"x6" deep )

any other options?

**what sized pots do i want to be flowering in with this cycle?
i'd start in cups, move to 1 gallon when you put under the mh and then maybe go up to 2 or 3 gallon pots right before you put under the big lights. Dont be scared to transplant them, its easy to do it w/o stressing them out and even if you do mess up a bit they will quickly recover. I wouldnt really call your grow a sog, more like a perpetual grow. Sea of green is lots and lots of little plants lollipopped so they each only make 1 main cola in small containers vegged for a very short time if at all.

i use the drops and strips, they seem to work fine, i used distilled water wich is at a ph of 7.0 so when i feed the ph drops drastically so i bump it up to 6.0-6.5 and it balances itself out becuz i dont balance the water when i just water, i leave it at 7.0 so it can help balance the acidic feeds

AWSOME BRO, i would so send you some Sour Diesel im smoking right now.. this is pretty much the response i needed.. i was worried about stressing them, so ur saying i can transplant a few times eh, (yes im canadian haha).. well thats good news.. i will def. start with small ones under the LED then i can fit a BUNCH.. and ya everything under the 1000watt has lots of room thanx to the light mover.. this should work out great! thanx bro

can you explain this more for me man.. i just figured taking clones when the first batch goes under the 400 to flower will then begin the 4 week process of the new batch

2 weeks rooting in the dome, then 2 weeks in the LED then flower under the 400 and cutt some more clones
 
thats fine, i was just saying if you wait too long to take them they will need to be reverted back to flower and that pretty much anytime you want to take them is fine as long as its before about 21 days into flower. your plan to take them right when you put the first batch into flower sounds good, i was just kind of throwing out some extra info thats somewhat relevent to the topic in a way.

oh i see what your saying.. no i will have mothers at a friends under a 1000watt MH so BOOM! lots of clones for the taking at anytime! lol.. if i did take any from flower it would b to keep the strain around which im sure i will never have to do during that grow.. or it will be becuz i want new/more mothers that are monster cropped.. thanx for mentioning that tho..
 
DD420.. now that ive got sizes of pots.. i hav bin looking at smart pots becuz they air prune ur roots for you.

my flower room is 6'x12' but i think my light on the light mover can only cover 4'x8'.. if i get a 48" parabolic reflector for it i might b able to squeeze 5'x8'..without the reflector at 4'x8' i can fit 32 exactly.. and with the 3 gal i can fit 46 exactly.. i think im going to go for 2 gal under the 400watt becuz i can fit 36 exactly.. and under the LED i can fit 36 4" cups/pots so this is the number im trying to shoot for under the 1000watt

you mentioned air pruning, i use these pots and there bang on grow alot quiker, mine are in 6 litre pots quite small but id bet ull find more roots in my pots then in a 10 litre normal pot, get around 2 oz a plant usualy more thoe. i put them in to these pots straight from cutting
 
think u got it bang on with ur set up, think only thing id do is trigger flowering whilst there under the LED/ 400w mh [clone light] bout a week before they go under the hps so you get that waiting period of flowers apearing out of the way

i dont know if this is the correct reply but i start flowering under the 400watt 7200k spectrum so they stretch nice, then the 3200k spectrum bulb will help the flowers appear, then moved over to the 1000watt HPS 2000k spectrum for 4 weeks of hardcore flowering lol..
 
wot ur saiying sounds bang on, wot i meant about the waiting period is.. when ever i start flowering i have to wait like 1 week or so until buds start growing i just meant that u could put ur vedge area in to 12/12 to start that proces .. buts its not that important

ya but if i did that i would only have 1 week of veg. and i want them as big as i can get them first, aswell with root mass...

i was going to transplant into dixie cups after they rooted
veg for two weeks
transplant to 2 gal under the 400watt for 4 weeks
then should i transplant again to 5 gal for the remaining 4 weeks under the HPS???

then i would be able to spread them out really nice under the 6' rail light mover but i dono if thats a good idea to transplant in the middle of flower like that
 
I really like smart pots. They are pretty expensive compared to other options imo(you can get like 10 grow bags or plastic pots for about the price of 1 smart pot of the same size.) but i fell in love with them. i was skeptical as hell but they proved themselves. My plants in 1 gallon smart pots are about 2x as big as their sisters in 2 gallon grow bags that are 2-3 weeks older. Try to find online a bulk seller, thats your best bet, unless you got a shit ton of money. 2 gallons under the 400w sounds fine. if your using smart pots and your plants are under 5-6 feet i think a 5 gallon is a bit much.(in my opinion, others may disagree) The stretch part of flowering will happen regardless of what color spectrum you use, if you want bigger plants i'd say a week or 2 of 24/0 under the 400w would really help. It will still take them awhile to finish vegging and to mature and begin flowering if you throw them under 12/12 before they are a bit more ready. That week or two could easily improve your yeilds imo, instead of wasting a week where they dont really do much you can have a week or 2 of rapid veg growth. i didnt bring it up before because initially i thought you were trying to do a sog grow and for a sog of small plants little or no veg time is part of it, so that would be correct on your time to veg for. If your looking for faster growing of bigger plants i think a few weeks of veg under the 400w is the way to go.

so 2 gallon are fine from out of the LED straight thru and till the end of harvest??

And i just figured using the 7200k spectrum would HELP with the stretch becuz it is technically veg. growth being the stem and leaves that are growing.. which is what the 7200k bulb is meant for.

i see what your saying, extra veg. time always improves yeilds.. if i veg. under the 400watt for an additional 2 weeks that messes me/my schedule up.. but if i veg. for one week under the LED then one week under the 400watt i think that it still works out fine schedule wise, i am just replacing something not adding to it then in the cycle
