Soil and airstones ?

getting ready to repot my babies. I use Just Right and Roots Organic mix 50/50. Ive never used air stones. Ive been told two different ways to add them. Do I mix in with the soil? Do I put an inch at the bottom of the pots and cover top of soil? Both?

I agree perlite is a good idea.

Another thing you could do is add a pump to the airstone and sit the airstone in the bottom of the pots, place a net pot over the airstone to create a cage at the bottom.

Transplant into this new pot with WORKING AIRSTONE and you'll see explosive growth from the direct oxygen being pump into the rootzone.

Its something I'm contemplating.

Hmmm, in coco, maybe if done right.
It's all about max oxygen and CEC exchange.

Nope. They're called air cages. My local grow shop sells a tone of them. Except they use some kind of diffuser tubing inserted into the rim of the net pot. Then that gets connected to an air pump.


Cost around £5 to make about 10. Then add an air pump with manifold to split to each pot.

I cant imagine air making its way through soil like that. Only roots that would get any extra air are those that make it to the cage. I dont know but seems to me like this is a huge waste of time, money and power. Maybe its just me.

IMO you have to keep an open mind. And be willing to try different things now and then otherwise how will we ever learn anything new.

Don't get me wrong i haven't seen any evidence to back this up yet other than what the guy at the shop said. BUT I was helping him to make 24 of these for a customer who swears by them.

On my next run with a current cheese strain I'm growing I do plan on trying it on 1 of 4.

It will be the only variable changed so I'll see if it does work for myself.
