I have a limited budget and am looking for some good flowering fertilizer. Are the more expensive brands worth it over say MG bloom plus?

Also, is it better to use a cheaper medium like scotts potting soil or coco and get good fertilizer or get good soil (fox farm) and use the cheapo fertilizers come flowering time?

So i sit more important to have good fertilizer for vegative or flowering stages? Since I cant afford good fertilizers for both.

Man, some herb is better than no herb. Try things out until your budget becomes available. Home depot/lowes sells colorburst thats 15-30-15 thats good for flowering and its like 6 bucks.

I'll tell you, I even had some all purpose 20-20-20 laying around that worked fine(Used only in Veg Mode). Just don't over due it, and you can develop your own style.

Foxfarm is the way to go, I'm using their seedstarter and my girls are growing fast.

Go with Foxfarm ocean forest if your plants are established already. It has enough nutes in it to feed for 3 weeks so don't worry about buying nutes until after.

The thing about soil is you don't want to compact it cheaper soils compact easily. The seedstarter from FF is loaded with light material and perlite, the roots can grow free.

I have not bought the ocean forest but I'm sure it has perlite in it, my hydro shop recommend it big time.

If you do go with the cheaper stuff mix it 50/50 soil and perlite.

Have fun bro!

i try not to cheap out on anything or cut corners. I made sure i had EVERYTHING before i started my grow!! I still need a fan but i have everything else. It took me about 4 mths of saving to get everything!! Anyways i would go with the good soil of course and try to get some good ferts if you can!!:weed:

Check out my thread here... you'll see Purple #1 grown in Miracle Gro with FF's liquid nutes, while Purple #3 is in Happy Frog with the same nutes... It's no contest... none. It DOES matter what you grow in, and by the time you buy plain jane soil and mix in the crap so it doesn't compact, you'll have spent as much as a bag of Fox Farms' soil... For me, the only question is whether to go with Ocean Forest or Happy Frog. Sure, it's twice the money, but my plant in the right soil is 3 times bigger and 3 weeks younger than the Miracle Gro plant....

So, take it for what you will, but buying right is buying once... if you half-ass it, you'll just spend more by spending twice. IMO. :)

HANDS DOWN USE FOX FARMS OCEAN FOREST SOIL. In my opinion the balanced ph and good beginning organic nutrients is an awsome boost to the first few days or week of your plants life.cheap easy nutes that give good results would be Fox farms also. Heres a link to a video of a nutrient challenge that i thought was very cool!

That was you failing with the MG soil. Use no nutes.
I did a MG just watered
Promix with GH nutes
FFOF and FF nutes.

All got perlite added and the MG got a little bit of lime too.

MG had the most yeild. Only by about 5%. but with all being withing 5%, I feel it doesn't matter.

I've recently gone back to earth juice. Last year I went from Humboldt line (big bucks) to Sugarpeak (organic line) from Earthjuice with better results at much less expense and hassle mixing all the parts. I also used earth juice amazon bloom soil. I have mixed the FF soils (equal parts each) and it worked great but the Amazon seems to have it all, no mixing and again fairly inexpensive. I'm two weeks into flowering some Casey Jones and some Purple Kush. So far all are very happy.

I've said it before. Alaska fish fert is great low buget nutes. ez to use. no burn. It comes in both a veg flavor and a flower flavor. The bad side the veg formula is a bit smelly. old fishing boat smell. the flower formula has allmost no smell,

Actually, the plant has started to rebound since introducing the FF nutes... before that, pathetic.

Do what you want, but I'll never use Miracle Gro again.
