Ok, so I started with a soil recipe that yielded a little over 30 gallons of soil mix, however I only need roughly 3 gallons for this single play grow I'm soon to embark on. So I did the conversions and just wanted to clarify with the general learned public that it is indeed a suitable mix:
Original Recipe:
3.8cf Peat Moss based mix (i.e. Pro Mix or Fox Farm)
2cf MG Organic Soil
1cf Chunky Perlite
1.5c Blood Meal
1.5c Bone Meal
3/4c Dolomite Lime
Conversions:
1cf = 6.4285 Gallons Dry
1 Gallon Dry = @19 Cups Dry
1cf = @ 122 Cups Dry
1 Cup = 16 TBLS
1 TBLS = 3 Tsp
Reduced Mix:
32c Peat Moss based mix
17c MG Organic Soil
9c Chunky Perlite
1.75 Tbsp Blood Meal
1.75 Tbsp Bone Mean
2.5 Tsp Dolomite Lime
the reduced mix will make about 58 cups of mix.. or just over 3 gallons..
I plan to use distilled water from start to finish with an added Tbsp of Molasses every other watering.
thoughts, suggestions, concerns welcome
thanks,
Joan Figgens
