do you buy that stuff locally or online? i would like to give your mix a try my promix experiment is working ok but not great
I buy locally. It is available online for a steep shipping cost. You can substitute all but the "Michigan" peat. Just get the rest close and "organic." The amends are online and I would not change.

Is water and watch as my haters wish for. LOL.009.jpg

I still got a lot of peat left and coir just goin use it on the veggies
To be honest, I think a little coco in the mix is good, I haven't used coco, but, from what I read on the internet, It's water holding and drainage properties are great, I am considering adding a little coco to the soil mix next time. Right now i'm increasing the size of my pots, from 10 gallons to 15 gallons, maybe a gallon of coco to the overall mix will be beneficial.

You don't think peat is too dense or heavy? I use it in my mixes but never more than 15-20% total. It is also pretty hot from some regions. Only curious as a dirt digger. LOL.
Sorry for not answering earlier; I don't remember why I said it, but I think I said it because it's, from what I could tell at the time, more standard and less troublesome than using coco (there are many threads of people having trouble with their coco living soil mixes).
But yeah I see what you mean, like this thread is super old, and Im still learning, but I also said that I would advice using compost in the mix.I haven't experimented that much, to be honest, the soil mixes I have done had a lot of peat, because I used, say for 10 gallons, I used 5 gallons of promix, which isn't all peat but you know, a lot of it, the rest I filled with ewc+compost and some more perlite. I might try to lower the amount of peat the next time I mix some soil, to see how my plants do.

You said that you use max 20% right? how do you fill the other 80%? with ewc+compost+aeration? I'm curious. Because seems like you run a bed, is that no till? I'd like to have have some soil beds at some point, and maybe do it no till style.

edit:sorry I just saw that I had already replied, lol, idk why it popped on my alerts. my bad.
