My biggest expense this grow will be soil. So I was wondering if I could do a mixture of my regular FFOF, but add some coco? If I can do a 75% FF to 25% coco I could save decent $ lol. Has anybody tried this, or know if it would work? +Rep for good helpfull answers, thanks.

you can do straight FFOF, adding coco will be just fine. it all depends on what you're growing. don't sweat it. i have 4' plant in FFOF and it's doing fine.

Coco affects ph and absorbs nutes, people do it but I dont know why. If I were trying to stretch it id add a little more perlite to it and water a little more often, wont affect ph or nute levels at all .

you're going to get a lot of opinions, all valid (mostly,) but remember it's just a plant and dirt is dirt. FFOF is nice soil. good luck!

I grew my last plants in a mix of Dollar General seedling soil and Perlite, with a little MG potting mix tossed in. It worked great for me and it doesn't get much cheaper than that....unless you go dig up some dirt from your yard lol

Forget the over-priced boutique dirt. I've been using MiracleGro Potting Mix exclusively for years. I fill 4 3-gallon pots for less than $10. Works 4 me, BigSteve.
