solar eclipse?

oh... it started in texas and is finishing in china tomorrow morning. i used to live in florida with my mom. a little south of jacksonville by the st. johns river.

werd so would florida have even got a chance to see it? guess it depends on which way we're spinning

not this time. it happens i think some what yearly but most of the time it doesnt do it over the US

thats what i was gonna do if i could see it. got a new self dimmer the other day. was checking out the sun a few days ago with it

I just used a filter I had laying around for these. Not sure what type of filter, just looks like welding glass, whatever it was it worked good enough for me.

I have been wanting to learn to weld, which requires purchase of a hood and a welding rig. This would have been THE PERFECT excuse! Damn I wish I'd heard about this earlier. Now I have to work on coming up with another excuse.

Fucking awesome afternoon and evening. We had a gathering at the fire pit and barbequed our asses off. It was christened the Ring of Fire Barbeque. The rules were to bring something spicy to eat (I made Jamaican Jerk Chicken). On reflection, calling it the "Ring of Fire" barbeque wasn't the best title. Especially when you're sitting on the porcelain throne wondering why you ate that last jalapeno popper. We had about 50 people at our little soiree. Film negatives were passed around to use for watching the eclipse (my brother the photographer's brilliant idea). Gallons of Sangria were had by all (non-alcoholic for the kiddies and religious and fortified for us grown up type folks and sinners).

It was one of the best evenings I've had in a while. The highlight of the evening was when my nephew decided to run into the bushes to take a piss and startled a flock of wild turkeys. It was already dark and he was sure whatever was after him was going to eat him. He came running out with his pants around his ankles. We started calling him The Jerk. We quoted lines from the movie and generally made his life miserable. It was the icing on a very nice cake.

We need to have eclipses more often. They're fun.

although i do gotta admit those damn naga chili peppers are no joke... if you ever want to really have "some porcelain issues"

they are really hot...

jerk chicken is so damn good! ive only had it once in hawaii but it was super delicious. mountain man- those are awesome pics! almost a full eclipse! where i was the sun way already going down but if its up in the sky and its sunny when the moon blocks part of it does it get less sunny out?

Here's some pics I took of the eclipse yesterday from Los Angeles area it was overcast so got it from behind the clouds except a few times where it peaked out

It was a modified Raspberry jerk recipe. Muy delicioso! The last time I made it was in Salt Lake City and those poor skim milk people just couldn't handle it.
