Solar Panals.......

Don't go cheap on the actual panels because cheaper panels lose more effiencey Then better quality ones. Cheap panels that are made in china can lose 5% effiencey a year which means in 10 years they are only working at 50%. there are panels made in germany that are at 85% effiencey after 20 years so its worth paying the extra $$$$ for quality panels.
You will save more $$$$$ in the long run. Just do your research before buying.
**got a good solar panel rec :) ..looking to outfit a new op w/ solar panels, looking for a good source

Not sure where this is in use. I wouldn't be surprised if the USA does this. They could always track you and just never use the evidence against you. I agree this is an invasion of privacy and needs to be stopped. I put this out here not to scare people but to heighten awareness of how far they will go to spy on us. Just look at onstar or facebook.

We need to vote!!!! Stand as one and take our freedom by the horns. :peace::peace::peace::peace:
last news i herd on this was that there testing it in boulder CO ..that was at least year ago but the smart grid is coming soon ..but us growers are smart we need to find out how it know what your running dishwasher tv hot tub and hide are lights as a deffernt piece of tech....i knew a grower back in the day who would turn his 5000 watt hot tub on as soon as his grow room went out to hide the 12 and 12 pattern ..which looking back now i dont think the could tell what time it was running but if and when the smart grid comes the man who invents the cloaking device for are lights well be a very rich man .....or we could just run and hide off the grid ive herd NASA saying the plain to use fiber-optic cable to carry light for the moon base ...you could have a fiber/optic collection dish on your roof and pipe sunlight right into your grow ?????? you might need a timer still to cut of the light at the right momernt but it can be done ....also mylar lined pipes are now at home depot for piping in sunlight for sky lights ........

From wiki:

The system can measure both reactive power and real power. Hence two appliances with the same total power draw can be distinguished by differences in their complex impedance. As shown in figure 8 from the patent, for example, a refrigerator electric motor and a pure resistive heater can be distinguished in part because the electric motor has significant changes in reactive power when it turns on and off, whereas the heater has almost none. NILM systems can also identify appliances with a series of individual changes in power draw. These appliances are modeled as finite state machines. A dishwasher, for example, has heaters and motors that turn on and off during a typical dish washing cycle. These will be identified as clusters, and power draw for the entire cluster will be recorded. Hence “dishwasher” power draw can be identified as opposed to “Resistor heating unit” and “Electric motor”.

So what I get from that is each device has its own fingerprint kinda. I imagine you could make your light look like something else using some device to transform the properties of the electricity being used to resemble a different appliances usage. Giving it a different fingerprint.
