(Solar Panels)

Snoochie-boochie!

I've been doing some research on how to mask your energy usage of your grow room, and I was wondering what ideas people had on this?

Also, I thought about solar panels? Would the use of sufficient solar panels make the record for your electric bill less obvious?

Well going off the base that an average grower produces .5 grams of dried bud every month per watt. I suppose just get the record of how much electricity the previous owner used from the electric company and just do the math. It seems it would go unnoticed if you keep the energy usage under what the previous owner used? However my problem is I don't know if the solar panels will make your total energy usage less or if your record will say something like " bla bla his usage is THIS but since he has THIS many solar panels his total comes to THIS but it would have been THIS" you know? if thats the case then there still is that "original" "without solar panels" total that cops will see. You know?

For the record-

It is EASY to do and very affordable now. I have 5.5 Kw of power from my panel array and do not regret it one bit. If you run your lights during the day you do not even have to store via battery bank, which adds to the cost. You run your lights and cooling all day then just your pumps and fans at night, which don't cost as much to run anyways.

Check out dubya-dubya-dubya realgoodssolar dot comm and dubya-dubya-dubya sunrun dott com for perfect examples of just how easy and affordable this is. People who say it is too expensive are just plain ignorant and need to get educated NOW. You can have a sizable roof mount system installed on lease for example, for about 1 grand down. It all comes down to Fed energy tax rebates, local utility rebates and others. 1 grand is a drop in the bucket for a 30k plus solar grid.

i find it bloody stupid rich people can afford but the poor people cant and pay power

I feel we are drifting from my first question, I don't mean to sound like a jerk but I'd like these answered.. please. lol

OK- I'll make this simple for you guys since you seem confused. Your Electric meter only shows what you have USED from the utility and if your solar grid produces MORE power than you use, you get to sell your power BACK to the utility (At wholesale prices unfortunately) but it still ROCKS! The utility companies actually have a Federal mandate to bring in a certain percentage of their power from 'green' sources including solar and wind. Like I said before anyone who does not take advantage of solar power right now, and lives in an area that gets ample sun...is stupid. Period. You people need to get smarter, not richer. This does NOT takes untold wealth! ;)

No, I know that you can get money from investing in solar power. However my question is "Will having solar panels help in not getting caught by the cops?"

well tbh the electric companys dont pay much attention to the wattage if it follows like a regular flow they dont care really how high it is how do they know your not running a ac and big screen in every room lol

Having a solar feed reduces your utility electric draw...in a nutshell. Will it make you less obvious to the cops? Impossible to answer based on all the other variables. If you live next to a cop and don't have proper odor control, then all the solar power in the world cannot help you. Unless the cops are already looking at your energy usage, then they have no reason to suspect a grow unless you give them one or more obvious reasons. ALl kinds of SMART people are putting in solar nowadays anyways, it's the clueless who aren't. :)

Power companies will sell their records to whoever has the money for it, and cops DO have the money for it. Power companies are, by law, to report suspicious energy usage. So when its reported, the cops of course check into it. Thanks Mac, good info.

show this law.... lol dude show me a specific case where the person was not already being looked at for them to start collecting. if your not on the map for anyhting and your shit is following normal power usages in residential areas you have a 1 and 1000 chance of encountering a problem from themasking about power bill

so again unless your using massive amounts of power into the wee hours of the morning i would not worry much about it

HAHA never mind what I said, i mis-read it. I got that tidbit from Marijuana Horticulture: The indoor/outdoor medical marijuana grower's bible. The real sentence stated that cops can intimidate power company employees into getting the records. My bad, i'm high.
